Hey John,

It looks to me like a FRIGIDAIRE Kan't Slide Griddle.It was made for the FRIGIDAIRE Radiantube burners and should have grooves underneath that fit right on the burners and keep it secure where it doesn't slide as you flip burgers,pancakes or eggs.I see them all the time on ebay under"frigidaire"and they sell like crazy.Most owners have no clew what they are or what they do.

My mum has one for her separate Custom Delux hotplates. They are fantastic

BUT....do not get them too hot. Use a maximum of 3/5 temperature AND you MUST let them cool before getting them near water....

or they get more warp factor than the Enterprise....

Thanks for all the information. I just got one because I just got a GM Frigidaire Radiantube cooktop like your Mother's! Nothing cooks better than those old fat coils!

We have one of these as well, and there aren't any grooves under it. There are three little nubs, like feet, under there. Rich was told that it was a broiler pan that may have had a rack that fit on it.

Jetcone, what does yours have on the bottom??

Three or four slightly rounded and elongated 'feet' is correct. It stops it sliding off the coils

Yep, there is a rack that fits it for use as a broiler. Use ours all the time for pancakes. My folks got it with the range, over 50 years ago.

Jon, any flat and thick piece of uncoated aluminum is an excellent conductor, and makes a great defroster. Solid frozen steaks will be ready to cook in just a few hours.

It works by conducting room heat into whatever is put on the metal. Foods that are flat on at least one side have the best results (steaks, hamburger patties etc). Here's a more detailed explanation:

I see the conductivity part but it must only work for flat foods,no? Like you wouldn't put a whole turkey on the thing?
I am trying to think how many flat foods I have in my freezer right now.

It's a matter of degree.. everything will defrost faster, but the flatter the food, the better it'll work.

Jetcone, your griddle is in nice shape. The roaster/broiler/grill that came in the GM Frigidaire Flair oven, is sought after too, they show up on "the bay" from time to time.
