If you could only use one brand and type(liquid, powder, with bleach, without bleach, and scent of detergent, what would it be? I think it would have to be Tide powder original scent for me....

If I could bring back 1960's Tide, that would be my choice, too. Of current brands, I'd have to go with powdered Tide Cold Water (which is what I've been using the past 5 months or so.) Second choice: Powdered Tide w/ Bleach.
My choice would be
Regular Tide,original scent. What's the difference between today's Tide and the 1960's Tide? I grew up in the 1970's and my mom used Tide and Gain. I remember the scent of Tide smelling like today's. Is it different. I can tell a difference in Gain,though. Tim

Gain Joyful expressions
This came out about a month ago where I'm at. They have it in liquior and powder and they also have it in fabric softner(AWSOME). This Fabric softner puts Downey and every other one to shame in my book. I have tried both the powder and the liquior and i prefer the liquior

Definitely Fresh Start for me! Best detergent out there in my opinion, and is very similar to vintage detergents with its nice "chemical" smell and hard granules. Not to mention it's powder in a bottle!
At the Convention, there was both new and vintage Fresh Start. They smelled exactly the same!

And for softener, it would be original scent, non-concentrated Downy.
No contest
P&G's original phosphate powered Dash, if it could be resurrected. I can't tell you how many times I wanted to bring some back from Europe, but was too cautious about traveling with a box of white powder.

Gain powder
Original scent. But the recent original does not smell like the original of the early 90'. I loved that scent so much that i would put some of it into a fresh vacuum cleaner bag at each bag change.

I'd choose the vintage Dash as well, but since that is a rare commodity now, I'd have to go with Austin on the Fresh Start and orginal (non-ultra) Downy.
Austin, did you know the scent of Fresh Start changed recently? The old formula smelled like the vintage stuff but the new bottles I've gotten are a little sweeter. It's not bad but Drat! anyway!

What soap to use?
If I had to make a choice in a detergent it would have to be the old realiable that people had used for years to get clothes clean and bright and was safe to use for colors and that being Oxydol. But it would have to be the old oxydol not the new stuff that they have on the market. I'm using right now Gain/w bleach original as it works very well and I have a front loader and can use it in it plus the fabric softner. I don't like the smell of the Joyful expressions Gain. One other thing also is that I have a water softner as I live in the Platte valley and if any body knows this area it has extremily hard water in Nebraska.

I really liked the early 90s "refill" package in the plastic bag, but the "Sanitizing" Tide of the late 90s was useful then (I know, I know, dryer temperatures can deal with most common microbes.)
I haven't tried the current variations, though Tide Cold Water powder sounded intriguing.

year, for me.)

My first choice would be the old Salvo tablets. That smelled sooo good.
In that I've developed senitive skin, I would stick to my choice
of the Sears brand. Barely a scent and fantastic cleaning and
low sudsing. Powder form.
