So, my vacation in the beautiful city of Los Angeles is coming to an end (on Tuesday) and it's time to go shopping! I've already been to Sears in Glendale and Santa Monica to check out US appliances but now it's time to get some detergent. Target in Glendale has a nice assortment of Tide and I'd like to try some - yes, even though I can get Persil for cheap in Germany... I'm torn between Tide Coldwater HE and TotalCare HE. I don't want powder because I'll stick with my beloved German Ariel powder for whites.

I like the claims TotalCare makes but CR said Coldwater preserves colors just as well plus it cleans better. OTOH, I don't really use water cooler than 104F. Decisions, decisions...

Naturally, I could just stick with the good stuff I can easily get at home but... you know. ;-)

So what to do (buy) before I leave and return home? *sob, sob*

I use Tide Coldwater HE for everything but my towels! (Even my whites!)

I've found that the difference between Tide Original HE and Tide Coldwater HE (besides scent) is boosted cleaning power to clean better in cold water. Bump up the temperature to warm (40C) and it cleans even better, bump it up to hot(50C) and you'll have some pretty damn bright whites! I never wash anything in water hotter than 50C/122F unless it;s rags or something because I feel that 50C is adequate for everything I wash including whites.

The only reason I don't use it on my towels is that I like to use Fresh Start on my towels as it smells WONDERFUL (especially paired with NuSoft fabric softener) and my towels are only used once before washing and Fresh Start isn't a strong detergent.

Downy

There is one Downy that has the scent of Lenor Mystery Maya but I don't know if thats one of the Downys that you bought.
