I've had two people contact me to ask what was such a big hairy deal in Jacksonville, so here 'tis:
It was a West Bend "This 'n That" canister, the largest size West Bend made. It was an optional accessory, not part of the basic set of four canisters (flour, sugar, coffee and tea). It's 10-1/2 inches tall, really huge.
The reason I was so interested is that the one in JAX was like the one in the picture below, silver and black. West Bend made its kitchenware in three different colorways - Silver/Black, Copper/Black and Copper/White.
The silver and black combo is easy to find in the basic set of four canisters, but it's the most difficult to find in the accessory pieces. I looked a looooooong time before I found the waxed paper/foil/paper towel dispenser, for instance.
Anyway, that's what the excitement was all about. It'll turn up, but I'm hoping sooner rather than later. I've missed two in just over a week - the one in JAX and one on eBay I didn't discover until too late, due to working a lot.
I am only looking for the This 'n That canister - I have all the rest, including the basic four canisters, the Bakery Bin, the cookie canister and the grease canister with its strainer, which is usually missing. [this post was last edited: 12/28/2014-20:43]
