Who Is Percy Faith?!

Thomasortega, you really should learn something about this music legend. He was a Canadian born arranger and bandleader who spent his early career working for radio stations, and then began leading bands under his own name. His real breakthrough was in 1960 with "Theme From A Summer Place", which is one of the greatest instrumental hits of all time.

Faith is often misunderstood by those who don't appreciate classic easy listening or "beautiful music" because he did many albums in the late '60s and early '70s featuring his very lush arrangements of pop songs. Sometimes they border on being kitsch, but some of the recordings are quite wonderful IMO. He also did critically acclaimed albums of Japanese music (he was very popular there) and Latin American music. Faith also did his share of film music as well. Overall, he just did a mammoth amount of music and most of it is very high quality - good production values and elaborate arrangements.

It was "Sh-Boom" by The Crewcuts. Never knew this. I always thought it was "Mr. Sandman" by The Chordettes. That would have been more appropriate since sleeping is more or less tied with something else for my favorite thing to do.

Greg, you're only a week outside of Virgo territory, which may be partly responsible for your meticulous approach to the restoration of your place. 8 years earilier on 9/30/55, James Dean met his fate on highway 41 in central California.

Well the U.S. no.1

on my birthday was "Hangin' tough" by new kids on the block. I always preferred "You've got it (the right stuff)" though =P

The U.K. no.1 when I was born was "Ride on Time" by Blackbox. A truly amazing song!

Not totally sure but I think the UK one was Blockbuster by Sweet??

Thanks Ralph

Maybe my birth date is the reason I have to have everything balanced in my life and in order? Sounds silly but somewhat true.
Not AR retentive at all but fairness and balance is a certain hallmark. I wonder what my song would have been had I been born when the house was built? Something by Mozart perhaps?? He and Bach are my favorite 18th century composers.

Well with today being my birthday, i found out it was Sonny and Cher's I Got You Babe, in 1965. today I hit the big 43, but i dont feel 43 i feel 23 and loving it
