I bit the bullet the other day and bought us a new GE Profile induction stove to replace the actually trusty KA which while working fine was looking rather unsightly. As you can see in the pics all the discoloration around the vent on the backsplash and over the door.. Being plastic or plasticky paint, trying to clean that off resulted in the paint coming off. And I never liked the glass cooktop. I bought it 2nd hand when we moved here about 12 year ago to replace the similar new one we left in Calgary,, though that one had a much better and easier to clean coil top.. And okay.. I also wanted a new stove as well
I shopped around looking for a free standing induction with actual dials but it seems those have gone the way of the dodo along with the particular Samsung that had 3 induction burners and one regular burner. There was a relatively inexpensive Frigidaire model but everything about it felt cheap, the controls, the drawer underneath felt extremely tinny so I passed on that one.. I saw this GE Profile at the Home Depot but it wasn't on sale and when I checked online it popped up at a store in London 60 mi away at a significant savings. I took that price to Lowes and they said they would beat that price by 10 percent and I'd get airmiles so I ordered from them Unfortunately this model was discontinued so they couldn't get one which left me ordering it from the London retailer.. They gave me a good deal on the 4 year extended warranty as well so it's now covered for 5 years..
I like it.. the glass top has no frame around it so there's nowhere for dirt to dig in. I haven't tried baking anything in the oven yet. It has steam and regular cleaning cycles. Also has the wifi connect so you can control the oven remotely from your phone.. that will never happen here. I'd be scared to death starting the oven when I wasn't home. Can't believe how fast this thing heats up a pan, particularly on the big burner, water is boiling in no time.. I think it's 3800 watts. And being able to put paper towels under your pots and pans while cooking is neat , it saves scratching the glass. On the downside it has no outlets on the panel (they're still legal here but disappearing). I'll miss those because I did use them on the KA. There's no backsplash lighting and probably the most missed, is there's no probe for the oven.. I didn't use that a lot but it was handy for roasts and worked well.
