No price!

I really dislike when people don't give a price and want you to make an offer. Especially with antique appliances I've seen prices all over the board.

Dave,

Why are you even looking! You have a whole garage full of turquoise Frigidaire appliances!

Make offer situations can be a pain, but I think most use that because they don't know what to ask. CL is designed for local buyers. I email a seller a value range, if they agree, I go look.

Twice, I have paid more than the asking price. CL buyers can be cut-throat once a listing is posted to a collector site such as this. I don't regret paying double for the 1910 ceiling fan spinning above me.

I agree about the lack of pictures. I guess we all want postings for high priced appliances, since we can't cope with making an offer.

You can never have too many!

Is there such a thing as too many turquoise appliances?! I like that this is the larger model freezer on bottom fridge then the top mount I have now. I made an offer and asked for more photos. Let's see what happens.

Yellow

Of all the colors that were made yellow seems a hard one to find. Especially in washer and dryers. I can only think of a select few Maytags I've seen in yellow but nothing else.

The funny thing is I would have thought pink would have been much more difficult to match, but nope,  I've spotted pink Frigidaires.  We have a pink Maytag set.  It's a shame the yellow appears to have not been as popular; it's a nice color.  We get compliments on our stove all the time.

Crappy seller!

I sent an email asking if it was still for sale and was told "yes". Asked for more photos and how much they were thinking they wanted. Did that twice before I got a reply saying they would take photos and get back to me. I made an offer without photos and was told it was being held for pickup by someone tomorrow. Clearly they were just holding out for a big offer. Jerks!

you may have lucked out

I emailed with this guy right when he posted on craigs list it took him forever to respond to me he finaly did last week. so I went to see it on friday it was running seamed cold and had a tray of ice frozen in it. so I made an offer he didn't like to much anyway after leaving we ended up making a deal at that time he was more concerened about how soon I could get it then the price now it is in my kitchen and wont cool below 60 and runs constantly so I am not sure what to do

60° is the refrigerator temp or the freezer temp?  How long has it been left connected?  Does it have the original defrost timer? These take some time to get to their normal operating temperature but it should get below that within a few hours... If you can make a video of what it does, show us the temperature in the freezer and the food compartment, if you can feel the temperature on the condenser at the back and tell us if it's mostly cool (not good) or partially hot and getting cooler at the top. Look for traces of oil under the compressor where the 3 wires connect.   Look at the air intake below the freezer floor with a flashlight, do you see any frost on the evaporator fins?

Robert just scanned a copy of the 1964 Tech Talk manual for Frigidaire refrigerators, you should first read more in this book.

Is it a 14 cu-ft or a 16 cu-ft model?  The 16 cu-ft model has it's cold control below the light lens in the fridge, the 14 cu-ft has it on the left side of the fridge. Other differences, the 16 cu-ft has it's butter compartment at the top of the door.

If it looks like that, it's a 16 Cu-Ft.

This is the 16 cu-ft model

The back is warm th freezer floor air intake has frost of the far right it has a replacement defrost timer I have downloaded the tech talk already just starting to look it over the freezer wasn't much cooler after running for hours I have turned it off because it never stopped running after many hours

If it was running fine when you got it, I assume that the wiring should be ok or at least, the defrost elements don't stay on all the time as it can happen if someone didn't connect things like they should be. The original defrost timer had 5 connectors and most replacements have 4.

If you see frost, it's a good start! You might want to remove the freezer floor to see what happens there and if the frost pattern gets uniform on the evaporator. How long did it stay connected before you disconnected it?

I am not a refrigeration expert but other members know more than I do about that! I hope others will chime in with suggestions.

First, try to take some pics/videos to show us what happens. You can host videos on YouTube and embed them on this site with just the link to the video (you don't need to use the embed code).
