Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Snakes. We get a few of them out here in the country. In our subdivision a Coral snake (very poisonous) once crawled in a womans dryer vent and when her husband went to remove the clothing that had been in the dryer for several hours the snake was sitting on the top of the clothes! He didn't see it until he had all the laundry in his arms. Unfortunately, the husband was only more frightened of snakes then his wife was. As the story goes, they both were running around the house at 11:pm on a Sunday night trying to find someone to come and remove the snake. The analysis was that their dryer vent came out of the house just 1 inch above ground level on a area loaded with landscaping gravel. The snake wanted to find a warm area, so it went in the vent which didn't have a trap door on it and into the dryer. Now I can't see how a snake can get inside the drum in the first place. But it did happen, as I talked to the wife who had it happened to. She said they both were screaming their heads off during the ordeal.
Now I work with a guy who is petrified that one of these days he's going to be on the toilet and a snake will come out of it.
He is especially worried about hotel/motel toilets.
Every now and then we get a snake in the yard and one of the dogs get a hold of it. They usually run around the yard with the snake hanging out of their mouths shaking it, or they play tug of war with it until there is nothing left of it.
For those with a fear of bugs, we have switched to Deltagard from Bayer. It is very effective on spiders, roaches and any kind of creepy crawly you may have outside and don't want. Plus apply it once and you are good for a year.

So, politics is not intended, but only neoconservative partisans are encouraged to express themselves?

Well, that's very "New World Order" meets "Silence=Death"....

Carry on. Just trying to establish my place in the natural order of things.

Whats your biggest fear?

all posts, here in, have been good responces to a valid question?

PeterH, are thinking you have some rules that haven't been disclosed somewhere?

republicans seem to think that they are above question, especially radical christian repubs.
They clamour for hiding because they know they are corrupt, perhaps they enjoy the illusion of being part of some obscure social group, or have the money and feel they can afford to act like a piece of s_____.
I have a special disdane for that ....
I was once sucked into that thinking.
I won't tolerate it.

Yes.

Whoever would have thought we could live in a country where a disabled movie star could be demonized by a hillbilly heroin addict, and THAT'S what it takes to give some folks a clue?

I keep wondering, WHAT will happen to awake my sleeping LGBT brothers and sisters?

Will it be another marriage amendment?

The Jerusalem Pride parade (and the possible bloodbath that's being fostered?

Microchips?

Understand my frustration. It's like whistling into the wind, sometimes.

Oh I love good, healthy debate and argument. Even if all of us are "alley cats" we still run in the same pack for the most part, so its nice when we can engage in discussion without attacking each other personally.

Austin is such a good person. I wouldn't care if he was going to vote for one-eyed, one-horned, flying purple people eaters.
Time changes everything and everybody. In time he too will change, but I'd bet he always remains a decent person.

Speaking of snakes-----
The Republicans changed and became something I could no longer recognize, hijacked by people who no longer wanted seperation of church and state and who will and are legislating their morality into law. They came to power under the guise of being a friend to the average working man. In fact they have been the bain. They have nearly destroyed the American middle-class and turned their backs while big-business hired millions of illegal imigrants at cutthroat wages. They had some good ideas back in the 90's but boy have they changed on us.

And remember all that hooplah about fiscal responsibility!!!!Hahahahahahaha. No more taxes for us when they can borrow against our future and the future of the youth. And you can believe whether it is Republican or Democrat SOMEONE is going to have to begin to tax the hell out of us to pay for all the debt this administration has incurred.
3 Trillion in trade deficit to Bush's buddy China for all their cheap junk. While they stab us in the back at every turn.China should clean up their own back yard and that includes that freak in North Korea causing everyone so much trouble AND stop biting our feeding hand!
11 Mil. a day in Iraq by the most conservative figures.
All financed. (But all our troops killed cannot be taxed back into life).

It has all been a good smoke and mirror show.
The Republican party, with its bottomless corporate pockets and massive corruption, runs the finest network of propaganda ever know to this planet.(Save for the Palestinians and their "petro-dollar" funded spin doctors). Fox News, oh, and that pathetic, drug-addicted, propagandist Rush Limbaugh (the vice-President's good friend). Oy.

Karl Rove has proven himself to be nothing more than a high-tech "Joeseph Gobbels".
A master of dis-information.
Can anyone think of an administration more secretive, deceptive and shady than this one has been. The Nixon administration is looking "squeaky clean" by comparison. Thank heavens even the most hardened right-wingers are now beginning to see what has happened. Patrick Buchannon Nixon's favored propagandist) has called for the impeachment of Bush for failure to protect out borders, as millions of unknown illegal aliens invaded our country. He is right!
But take those shoes off and empty your pockets before you fly!

Legislation needs to be passed that allows public beheading for lobbyists, and politicians who pander to them. ALL special interest lobbying and their money needs to be stopped once and for all. Their legalized bribing has corrupted both parties like never before imagined.

The Democrats have been asleep at the switch untill lately. Afraid of their own shadows for good reasons. They, too, are guilty of loosing touch with the average working American. AND they certainly were out to lunch when it came to preparing this country for our new-generation of (terrorist) warfare. No wonder Bush and his cronies have such support amongst the terrified masses expecting a local representitive from Al-Quaeda to jump out of the bushes and attack them right in their own driveways. Fear-mongering does work.

The Democrats need to grow their genitals back and they certainly seem to be well on their way.
Anyone listened to that Obama fellow lately?
He says its time for a whole new generation of politicians with new ideals and agendas. That the "baby boomers" time has passed.
IMO he is right. It is up to the youth to carry the new torch.
Every American should register as an "Independent" voter no matter which party they vote for just to signal their displeasure for BOTH parties!

Hopefully there will be a new party altogether to work with------unless the old ones REALLY effect change.
But,then again, time changes everything.

Whew!
Not that I'm opinionated or anything, just thought I'd share my soapbox with ya'll for a spell. I think I really am a Libertarian after all.

No, I'm just saying that this thread starts of with spiders and snakes (and that ain't what it takes to love me -- remember that song?) and politics creeps in and the finger pointing and generalizations and the I'm-right-and-y'all-are-wrong, etc, etc...

Just lighten up and quit whining. No one is all that oppressed.

For the record, I'm Libertarian and we never get heard. That's my whine and I'm sticking to it.

And keep the Nutone exhaust fans far away from me! The hair on the back of my neck is sticking up just seeing this pic.

Peter---

Since all I have is a Miami-Carey you are safe----but don't throw the wrong switch as you enter the bathroom---scary,scary!

And who wants to lighten up and quit whining when it is so healthy to kvetch and vent?

I'm waiting for Venus to join the fray!

I was going to say Ticks, but never mind.

How did this end up as a politcal hate fest? So much for friendlyness.

What's Your Biggest Fear

Just reminding people of the title of this thread. It's not "what bug do you most fear?" As soon as I saw this thread listed, before I even opened it up, the first thing that came to mind for me was, fear that the republicans will still control congress after 11/7. Fear that George W Bush still has 2 more years to effectively bankrupt this country, something he has done to every business he has ever run. Look it up. I don't know about the rest of the readers here, but I don't want this country brought to its financial knees and owing its soul to China because a bunch of sheep are still going to buy into this "stay the course" nonsense. The world felt our pain after 9/11. But Bush quickly proceeded to alienate the rest of the planet when he fabricated the opportunity to nail Saddam for his dad. This was something he intended to work into his agenda even before 9/11, that is crystal clear.

I've ranted enough. Don't want to start in on the crazy politics in the state where I live. Washertalk and Gyrafaom have captured my sentiments about the sad state of affairs in DC nicely.

I'll keep this post "legit" by saying I'm the designated spider killer in my house. Unless it's a Black Widow or the more lethal Brown Recluse (and those I encounter only outside and very rarely) I get some tissue and smash it and flush the whole thing down the toilet for good measure. The deadly spiders I find outdoors get sprayed liberally with bug killer unless I've got a stick handy and feel I have the upper hand (considering they have 8 to my 2) and can safely smash them. Garden spiders I generally leave alone unless they've chosen to place their web in my path. In those cases, I detach just one key anchor point, the web collapses and then I hope the critter figures that was a bad place to set up shop and relocates. Besides, it keeps them busy. They must get bored playing the waiting game all day.

There's my $.02 on each of the dueling subjects we've got going here.

Steve, Steve, Steve, Steve, Steve... (chuckle, chuckle) Little do you know how gingerly I use the light switches in your W.C. You must really like my brave face when I am over...

Versatronic, when Greg, Jimmy and I went to the Sacred Appliance Burial Ground, we were all scared of getting the ticks, with good reason! I think we avoided them pretty well, but I found one crawling on my belt and jumped away from my pants very quickly! The sucker (literally) met a bitter end. (not my "end", but it's own demise between the floor and the bottom of my sneaker).

ok so i named the thread wrong

i was expecting snakes, heights, spiders, rollercoasters, planes, and clowns. Not a political debate. Maybe it was my fault for not specifying NO POLITICAL arguements even if your fear is your government or political belief. Well im not angry the thread is the way it is but i expected more. Nick

Mattywashboy

thankyou for not posting that picture, its so much appreciated. When i see a spider my chest tightens dramaticaly and i really do have to calm myself down. I will skip looking it up all the same. Im sweating at the thought of stocking bananas. One job i wont do at work incase there is a Tropical Critter amongst them. The other guys at work understand my fear and do it for me when im on produce. Nick.

Spiders are COOL- people

do you know that if we lost the services of spiders our world would be unendated with a plethara of insects to the point it would be intolerable. Most spiders are small, harmless, slow moving, almost blind creatures that only want to protect us from annoying flies, gnats, and the like.

So next time you disturb a spider and runs off randomly, (because it can't see where it is going) Think of that story "Charlottes Web" or just how beutiful a spiders web is when back lit in the afternoon sun.

OK, So that is our lesson for today, Boys and Boys. Time for recess, then Gym, then hit the showers for some real fun.~~

I have to add something on the spiders.

I have always lived in the north and North east. where spiders really aren't an issue that I have found. But I can empathize with those who may live in areas where it doesn't freeze and bugs have a greater 'fright factor'. I lived in LA for a while in the 80s and roaches were/are gross. but other bugs could be found anywhere. stay safe.

My greatest fear??? Another Republican in the White House. It will take years to undo what one slack jawed yokel has taken just a few years to mess up. I know that my son who is almost two will be paying for W's mistakes. And how about those that have given the ultimate sacrifice? Those voices will never be heard now. As a teacher, I teach tolerance and peace...and no child left behind a complete underfunded joke! W is my greatest fear...the world is laughing at us and we are on the downward slide...that is conservative politics for you. If you have money then you matter...let's just remember that the world is watching. I hope the next "person" in the hot seat can do at least a little better. Call me liberal that is fine but I cannot believe anyone can honestly support what is going on in this country now.

Sorry to rant...I guess politics don't mix well with this diverse group.

--Tom Anderson

Amen-

We mix well here.
No shouting, more a misunderstanding of what the post title is.

I don't have kids, but, wow as a parent your concerns have a much greater meaning.
