What's your favorite part of your washer's cycle?

While I was washing clothes last I night, it dawned on me that I really love watching my SQ T/L agitate, especially when the machine first begins to agitate. I also love watching/listening to the machine drain after the wash. These sights and sounds mesmerize me, and I was wondering if anyone else felt the same way. I know we all have different machines, but I thought it would be cool to hear other members thoughts about their machines favorite sights, and or sounds.

My favourite part of the wash is the rinse cycle! Always been my favourite. Especially the cascade fill as it slows down from spin at the start of the rinse on my bosch! The beginning slow tumbles as it fills are fun to watch at the start of the wash too!

Spin

The spin, especially after the wash cycle, is my favorite. That is where the washer design of the major appliance manufacturers seems most apparent. I love how Whirlpool's belt-driven line (including Kenmore) does its infamous neutral drain before "kicking" into spin. Then there's the sound of that clunk and the motor ramping up to full spin speed. What's also intriguing is the sound of the spray rinses as the water solenoid opens and closes as well as the "breathing" when the pump draws air.

Then, of course, there's the neat swishing sound and water deflecting off the tub ring during the spin drain from the old Frigidaire, General Electric, Maytag, and Speed Queen washers. And they have the extended spray rinses instead of the intermittent ones on the Whirlpool models.

That's is my biggest fascination about washers. Let's hear some more!

Simple:

The spincyle of the Miele W715, Or the W9XX series with 1600 RPM.

Shredmore 80 series:
- the recirculation (it draws water back in between the two off positions): As the water level is rising there is a tremendous splish-splash orgy until the agitator vanes are covered completely with water
- start of spin: I LOVE that repeated "dance" of the tub when the balance ring tries to catch up with gravity

GE filter flo: start of spin with all the water still in the tub, when the water surface centrifugally moves out to the sides forming a cone before it is pumped away.

AEG Lavamat nova regina:
This machine denies the existence of unbalanced loads and SLAMS the whole weight of the clothes into spin, no matter what. Banging? What is it? Rattling? Couldn't care less, pure amperes and motor power will do. Meanwhile there is this "downstream" (or rain) on the front door glass until the water cushion between basket and tub is gone. Then the opposite: After spin, there is this shreeking sound when coming to a stop (the motor working as a magnetic break).
Heaven!

After some wash sessions with all my machines running simultaneously I need my 3 mins to come back to normal. Somehow I feel hypnotized. Do I need a shrink?

I have always seen it as the grand finale of the cycle!!

In the beginning

I like to watch the agitator begin to pull the clothes through the water as it dissolves the detergent. Its fun to watch the fabrics begin to rollowver as the suds form and the water takes on the characteristics of heavy cream. I like the sound of slapping water, the rumble of the machine and the occasional mechanical sounds of the transmission. I can do other things during the spin cycle. If the machine is old enough to have an overflow rinse the extra water capacity and watch thing suds wash out of the water is an added incentive.

Depends on the machine. Agitation for long stroke Maytags, GE filter flo's, and Norge based MW machines. Spin cycle on any GM Frigidaire.

What's your favorite part of your washer's cycle?

The best part in my Zanussi IZ is the fancy rinse/spin it does from time to time. It breaks in to a spin whilst still full of water, it is really cool.

In my F&P intuative, the eco part where it fills with a small amount of warm or hot water then circulates the concentrated hot detergent water over the load whilst the tub rotates soaking the load for a bout 5 mins before it fills to agitate.

my favorite cycle

Agitation/tumble is my favorite part of the cycle. I especially like the sounds of the water splashing on the cotton/normal cycle.

Spin sound!

like a jet, but softer. Since a teen, I have judged the powertrain quality of vehicles by how quiet and smooth they were. Did the torque push you into the seat back, was there no vibration in the gas pedal or steeering wheel? Not when new, but with at least 30,000 miles. I judge a washer the same. Who makes the Olds rocket V8 of washers, or did? Buick came in second, then Chryslers. Never drove an old Lincoln or Caddy. Fords were fine, unless the 40,000 mile valve wear pest revered it's head and caused a miss.

But I’m finally mastering the amount of water to use, so I’m amazed at how well it seems the filling is thrilling now that I’ve learned I can do the most amount of clothes in an incredibly small amount of water...

My favourite part of the cycle on my Zanussi IZ1600 was the rinse on the cotton cycle. It would break in to a mini spin full of water and the recirculating pump spraying water over the spinning load. I think they called it Total exchange rinsing, or something like that. It was very impressive. It didn’t always do it, think it depended on how big the load was. It was quite random. Alas, I no longer have that machine. Got the machine new in the mid 90s in London, brought it to Australia 2006 and it eventually bit the dust in 2012, too old to be fixed.
