When One Door Closes...

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

super nice matched set....I am gonna guess 1977-80...gold trim....2 speed washer....hard to tell, may be large capacity.....

looks to be in exellent shape....best part is their still hooked up to test them

but I would still push closer to 125.00 for the set...see what happens, and wat you find when you see them in person

Todd, I hope you get them.  They're probably low mileage and/or well-maintained.  I'm going to guess they are 606-ish machines as it appears the panels aren't the lighted type.

Yes, those are 606 machines.  Can't tell if they're almond or white though.  2-speed, 4 temp, 4 water leve ex large capacity.  The dryer has reguar and low heat, has auto dry perm press and auto dry regular (not electronic sensor); timed and aif fluff cycles.

Well, these babies are now mine. Got 'em for $100, and my first Maytags. The washer needs a fabric softener cup and the center chrome push knob piece but other than that, they are fabulous! In almond, not my favorite color, but came complete with all the manuals. The washer is a A608, dryer is matching DE608. I always see you guys referring to these types of model numbers...now with the lovely full-color manuals I see what you've been talking about! Washer is a tank -- metal tub and tub ring. Can't wait to fire them up this weekend. Promise photos and will attempt some kind of video if I can figure out how to work my digital camera, if anyone is interested. Since color is almond, am guessing mid- to late-70s vintage. Now all I need is a Frigidaire and GE and my collection is nearly complete!

new Maytags

I've got an A608 and a DE606, they are rock solid machines. Check your serial number and you can find out production month and year.

This should be your timer knob silver cap,

and this should be the dispenser cup, in turquoise,

Tons of folks here can help with advice and tune-ups for sure, just ask.

If you ever want to scan the A608 manual, or copy it and charge me and mail it, just hit me up in emails, that would be great--

Thank you, Akronman, for the parts info. I just ordered today!

And to RP2813, you and Nate are welcome any time. As a matter of fact, Nate saw part of my old collection when I lived in Phoenix. But now my collection is new and improved! (make that "old and improved!")

Pics of Manuals

One of many manuals that came with my "new" Maytag washer & dryer set...taken on top of my '74 Wards Signature washer that will be moved out to the washerhouse to make room for the 'Tags. Sorry about the quality, still learning how to use this new-fangled digital camera.

It's So Satisfying . . .

. . . to hear that a pair of well-made Maytags are bumping a Signature machine out to well-deserved banishment in the warehouse.  You can toss those earplugs now.  You won't be needing them anymore.

Maytags installed and running, but the motor in the dryer is really loud and the element appears to be out. Will have to work on that over the weekend. I really forgot how quiet these washers are (even though I love my Norge and Wards machines) and my husband is very happy with the peace asking why I never owned these before!
