Maybe it's time, to, oh I don't know, SERVICE IT. Man what a mess, and I still didn't get bearings rebuilt quite right but it's running again. Thanks Dad, for setting it oscillate when I told you not to. I love this little ten inch 2 speed fan.

I was being melodramatic but what happened was the original headwire shorted out, went off like the 4th of July. It was laziness on my part about not taking care of it. The motor had been cleaned out and relubricated, but because of bad/worn out seals, the lubricant slowly leaked out also. The oscillator gear was completely dry. I took the motor apart, replaced the worn out rubber, and relubbed and it's in a much better mood now. Spin down is around 5-6 seconds.

On the headwire, it was one of those things that if it wasn't messed with, and as long as the oscillator wasn't used . it was okay for the moment. However, in this case, the oscillator had been used for several hours, and it put too much stress on the headwire.
