As y'all already know, I'm working on a 1975 DE806 Halo of Heat dryer. It's still apart and I need to know just where and how to install the new front felt seal. I have the seal and a tube of Maytag high temperature adhesive.

Does the seal go on the outside of the drum so the seal rotates with the drum, or does it go on hte inside of the front of the cabinet so its stationary (the drum would make more sense to me)?

Do I just put down a bead of adhesive or should I do spaced dots of it?

There are no traces of the original seal to go by so I have no clue where to put the replacement.

Thank you for your advice,
Dave

You use a thin continous bead of adhesive, applied to the lip on the drum. Then smooth and even it out and apply the gasket. I usually do this first so it can cure while I reassemble the back end with the blower, pulleys and belts...

Thank you so much Andrew!

I don't recall that thread at all, it's just the information I needed. I'll try to get on that tonight. I really want the matching dryer to our A806 up and running. Also, the automatic shutoff will hopefully save some electricity compared to the DE306 we're presently running with its standard countdown timer.

Once again, AW.org comes through to solve the problem,
Dave

Also, should I use the high-temp adhesive the same way to reattach the fabric lint shield to the back of the blower housing?
