My friend's oven in his Thermador Range (model GCRG 364 GL
serial S311008) is not working properly. The problem is that very small movements of the dial cause big swings in temperature. For example, on the dial ‘off’ is at 12 o’clock, 150 degrees is at 3 o’clock, 350 is at 6 o’clock, and 500 is at 10 o'clock. When the dial is at 150 degrees the oven is at 350 degrees. (I have two oven thermometers in the oven) When the dial is at 200 degrees the oven is at 500 degrees. The oven cycles but I can’t get it be stable temperature below 350 degrees or between 350 and 500.
What should he check or replace first? The thermostat capillary? The thermostat itself? Any help would be appreciated.
