The good version

This song was redone by Beyonce for Dreamgirls. Scherrie Payne did the original recording and in this excerpt from Dreamgirls, Scherrie is lip syncing the 80's rendition.

This one is

BEFORE Toggles was jailbait! Anyone remember it? From 1979. I just love all the throwback from the past. This thread has really jogged my memory.

summer 1979

Wow,what great memories I believe life was much more fun for our generation then the teenagers of today.I was 16 and had a 69 camaro and would go rollerskating at Valley forge skating center from 12 to 2 and eat breakfast watching the sun rise with all my friends.

oh my dear....

can't say where i first heard it....boston-boston? buddies? darts? haven't thought about those places in a long time. i know i still own the disc. i did like that song.

Disco 104 in San Franscisco, Launderess

Not a place, but a radio station, 24/7 disco music! Was just wonderful when I first moved there in 1978. One of my favorites was Grace Jones, "I need a man" first heard that at DOK West in Garden Grove California.

But the link I chose I think hits a little closer to our group here. Enjoy! And yes, I do still have the 12" LP of it!

DOK WEST!!

OMG!! That brings back memoies Ironite. I definitely remember that place and actually almost forgot about it. I had a friend that moved from the San Fernando Valley down to Orange County and we used to go there when I went to spend the weekend with him. There was another bar that I forgot the name of that was close to Beach Bl and Garden Grove Bl. Went there too. I do remember them playing the disco Lucy song.

Garden Grove at one point actually had more gay bars than West Hollywood! Among others: Rumor Hazzit, Tiki Hut, The Mug, Iron Spur, Old Bavarian Inn, Knotty Keg, Hound's Tooth, The Ranger, Saddle Club etc. Rumor Hazzit was my favorite in that area.. It had a great layout with a great dance floor, but you could still sit away from the action and have a conversation without yelling to one another.

disco nite

I went into you tube and spent 4.5 hours listening to the best music I've heard in decades! I found songs I had on 12" records.I actualy found a cd on email by Patrick Cowley. He did "Thank God for Music","Right on Target",and some other songs including a few with "Sylvester"who sang the well known song "Do Ya Wanna Funk?"Both singers were killed by the widespread AIDS virus in the early to mid 80's right at the peak of their prime. What a loss.
