I bet those cabinets weren't always painted white either.  Probably some nice wood shade underneath.

I Know Of....

....A very similar kitchen that was lovingly cared for by its owner for nearly sixty years. When she died, her children decided the house had to be sold, since they were both living in other towns. They sold the house to people who seemed very friendly and nice, so everyone vowed they'd remain in touch.

The new owners promptly did a gut and remodel, sending photos to the kids. To this day, several years later, the very mention of the remodel causes one of the childen to turn beet red and start clenching her fists.

It is a shame and a pity that people work so hard to build something and take impeccable care of it, and then subsequent generations can find nothing to say about it but, "dated," and rip it out.

I agree.  Sawit happen in my parents subdivision too.  Even right next door!!!  And at that time the house was probably only 15 years old.

Replace the dishwasher with a KDS-18, replace the refer with anything from the mid 50's early 60's, and replace the floor with checkered black/white tile. I'd be done!

I agree! Such a bright and cheerful kitchen, how could one help but enjoy spending time in there! I can almost see the Betty Crocker homemaker, beverage in one hand and cake mix in the other starting her delicious day!
