Whirlpool and Servis?

While researching Whirlpool's recent "compact" front loader, kept seeing refereces on the Interent to "Whirlpool/Servis". Mainly washing machine and dryer parts for the Whirlpool Servis washers, and mainly European/GB websites.

Knew the previous incarnation of Whilpool's small front loader was an Italian made Servis washer, but are there other Whirlpool laundry appliances sold also "Servis"? Considering Servis laundry appliances do not enjoy the best of ratings in GB, cannot imagine why Whirlpool, known for it's quality would get into bed with Antoinio Merloni.

Happened to see one of the "Italian" compact Whirlpool units at an appliance store the other day. No worse than some of the other front loader offerngs in the United States. This was especially true when compared to the plethora of other rebadged washers such as Equator, Thor, Quietling, Edge Star, and so on. These units were on closeout and while the price was tempting, the Servis reputation put me off. Mind you the Italian Whirlpool washer offered a pre-wash cycle and had a slot in the dispenser for that cycle. The new "south of the border" unit eliminated the pre-wash cycle totally.

I doubt if this will improve your outlook much, but the Duet, HE3T, & HE4T washing machines are all imported from Germany. The dryers are made here in the states though. Actually, that's a deal maker for me, not a deal breaker. At least be glad they're not imported from China, Japan, or India.

I don't think there are other Whirlpool laundry appliances made by Antonio Merloni. All the laundry appliances don't have the sizes of European washers and dryers. So no further hidden Ardo, Servis, EBD, Edy machines or whatever they are called underneath the Whirlpool skirt.

As for the deal maker: Bauknecht (the manufacturer of the Hetties, Duets and Ensembles) may be a German manufacturer but over the 10 years they made the least reliable machines manufactured in Germany. In a recent consumer test, the Bauknecht came out last of the more expensive European washers. Main reason because one of the test machines broke down and had to be replaced, unlike every other brand in that test.

wot the hells coming to the laundry world.. i want that damn antonio merloni to go out of business!! there terrible!! from experience!

lol. sorry bout that. i have a Grudge with that brand.i hope they dont start making all the asko range..this is why compact froad loaders get a bad rep stateside. in my opinion. cause everyone gets to experience the terrible machines. i think the only thing likeable about them is they have an element?

I own an italian Candy washer. It's fashionable for european manufacturers to build washing machines with extremly low water cunsumption. My washer only uses about 45 liters ( about 10 gallons) of Water for the standard cycle( 100°F, 100 minutes 10lb). I often have to outwirt the cycle. I first choose the delicate cycle to set a higher water level and then turn over to normal wash! But nevertheless I Think european(especially german) washers are more hig tech washing mashines than US made ones. Frontload mashines are the only kind of washers that are sold on the german market. I would be very pleased to own an american washer! What do you think about german washers?

Servis (Antonio Merloni) actually still produces washer dryers (combos) for Whirlpool over here in the UK, and over the past 10 or 15 years Antonio Merloni have also produced washing machines for Whirlpool, usually as bottom-line or exclusive models.

Bear in mind that Servis machines are also badged as Edge Star, Supra, Eurotech, Malber etc. in the US, not just the Whirlpool compact front loader.

I am very pleased with both my German AEG and Miele washers; however I'm not too happy with my Bosch. From using all 3 I have found that the AEG beats the Bosch by far, and the Miele exceeds the AEG even more, if that is even possible. One of the best features of my AEG and Miele machines are the ability to programme in deep rinses - I actually prefer lower level washes for most loads as the tumbling action is more vigorous (only use a high water wash for duvets and delicates), however for rinsing I believe that you need as much water as possible.
