Whirlpool AWM613 H-axis toploader

Hi guys,

I've just picked up this rare whirlpool h-axis toploader. I adore the Aqualine range and while I wish it was a frontloader these are rather quirky and cool. I've never had a h-axis toploader before so that's cool.

It's pretty much a philips slimstar-the controls and programme guide are in the same guise.

Made it France. I've yet to date it but around 91-93z

It has been stood a long time and has made some awful noises which I've filmed below. Bizarrely it spat out aload of peanuts from the drain hose and it leaked when I put some water in the drum. Potentially the storage in a garage has made something perish?

Looks like a nice and clean machine. Peanuts in the washer? I'd want a look under the wash cylinder before I put any clothing in it. Does it have any smells to it? Like something crawled in there and died?

Strangely not.

When I have time on the weekend I will investigate further!

Nice machine! It's most likely from the period 1988 - 1991 in which Whirlpool and Philips had a joint venture. In 1991 the whole Philips/Whirlpool brand became 100% Whirlpool, the machines made after that were labeled Whirlpool only.

Best feature of this machine is the start of the spin with still the water in the drum. Not as spectacular as with older models, because the spin is stationary in the beginning where the older models would speed up on the first increment.

Yes I guessed the same. I've always had a soft spot for philips/whirlpool machines!

Yes the distribution drain will be 120rpm as opposed to 400rpm on the old philips :-(

Hi, nice "Super T12".

This chassis was very common in France, they were discontinued in 1998.
They existed in Philips/Whirlpool and also in Radiola, Laden, Bauknecht and maybe Ignis.

These machines were quite silent when new but after some years the dampers goes bad and the machine shakes an become very noisy at spin.

Be careful when working on it, there's a lot of easily breakable plastic parts.

Well it has been short lived, after correcting the leak myself and enlisting help from my good friend Austin discovered the drum has collapsed on the Fromt bearing but has continued to be used and mangled the outertub where it has made the hole where the drum bearing sits larger over time.

So now I have the unfortunate decision of whether to try and replace with it a drum from a current whirlpool in the hope it would work? Or to throw it away and hope one turns up which is unlikely.

Too bad

Sometimes the dampers and the motor goes so noisy that you can't hear a dead bearing and when it leaks by the bearing it's most of the time too late.

You can enlarge the bearing diameter with some rubber to fit in the tub hole, unless the tub is cracked, it could work but it might be a bad idea too.

Does anybody know if philips made the h-axis toploader for Servis/merloni in 1991?

To be honest, I am not sure. But I do know that I have never seen a Merloni toploader that looked like a Philips/Whirlpool.

I have this one on my archive folders, the images came from a local classified ad.
According to some friends this machine is made in Italy and seems quite rare.

I'm pretty gutted but confident that a transplant can and will happen. I know whirlpool have made h-axis TLs for a few companies
