A friend of mine wants to know if it is possible to make a full size belt drive spin as fast as the portables do, and if so, how could it be done? if anyone knows feel free to write.

The belt drive compacts use a standing chassis and since everything is mounted from the base they don’t have issues with shaking or walking.

we have done it two ways.....

changing to a 5/8" belt....this rides near the outside of the pulleys, giving the machines some kick, both in spin and agitation....

or changing the motor pulley to 2 1/4", will definitely Turbocharge it some....

Because what could possibly go wrong in running a machine faster that the manufacturer has specified?

Wouldn't it just be easier to put in a motor that is double or even triple the speed? Maybe even do double pole or triple phase depending on how much action your clothing needs.

If double pole or triple pole is necessary you could use the single motor controls from the timer as an activator for a relay.

Paint some racing strips on the front of this 1970s-1980s belt drive, maybe "lift" this bad boy 3-4" with industrial grade cabinet feet, blue leds around the bottom perimeter, leds on the console, gang graffiti on the sides.....
