Whirlpool compact washer

Picked up a Whirlpool compact washer this morning from a church sale for $25.00. Its in good shape, minus some scratches and one small dent on the side. The model # is LCR5232HQ2. Already began cleaning her up, though, I'm having difficulty removing the agitator. I removed the screw that was on the side of the agitator thinking that it would just "pull out." Nope, it will not budge. Is there more to do to remove it? There is no nut inside the agitator.

Congratulations on your washer find. The agitators tend to get stuck on these washers. You can either break it off or try poring a few gallons of boiling water down the center and then try pulling. There is really no reason to remove the agitator and I would personally just leave it alone.

Thanks. I was thinking of leaving it alone but when I shined my work light down in the agitator, I see all sorts of crap stuck down at the base of it. What I wanted to do is clean it out. I will try the boiling water, if that doesn't work, maybe the boiling water will clean that area out.

that looks like such a nice machine. please put more photos up of controls and drum. and that dryer you have it standing next to also looks intersting. could you please put up a photo of the dryer too?

The dryer I didn't get. Not much room left in the basement, lol. Yes, will have more pics soon. She should be cleaned up by the end of this week.

The american version of Brastemp Mondial.

To remove the agitator, you can also use two old safety belts.

Place them under the agitator forming a C, then tie each one of them (forming to "rings") finally pull up but never let your face right above the agitator. It will be a little difficult to explain a purple eye or a broken nose with "Filtro - Filter" stamped around .

The belt is much easier than the agitator to grab and pull.

Under the bottom of the agitator you'll find several small fins that are there to make the filter work. Sometimes they can crack and trap some lint.

Also, there are several agitators here in Brazil that fit World Washer. The original, with four straight vanes, the dual action and the multifunctional used on the Brastemp Washers we have today. If you want I can send them to you.

Does it have a softener dispenser of the top of the agitator? If so, what kind? funnel type, that dispenses the softener after the filter cup or the cup type, that dispenses softener right below the dispenser (easier to clean)?

Both dispensers also fit all agitators (except the dual action, that has no filter or dispenser)

Hmmmm, I can try that. I do see lint down there when I pull the softener/lint cup.

The softener dipenser, I think is the cup type that you can't take apart, so you can't clean it. It seems that when it gets dirty or it clogs up, you have to replace it. I should have new pics by this weekend.

Hot water will dissolve the crap in the softener dispernser. You don't have to throw it away, just flush it out.

I think those washers are so cool! Nice find! Friends of ours used to have one of those, it did laundry for a family of 4, always on "super wash 18min.", cold water, and they never sorted the colors. I always thought it did a good job to actually get the clothes clean under those conditions! It sounded horrible though, it squeaked loudly during agitation and the bearings were shot, it could be heard outside the front door!

Friend of mine had this washer in there apartment. When i get my apartment in a few months i would like to get this model.or any model equivalent to this one it does the job.

Guys, remember on other thread I talked about the little differences on Whirlpool's World Washer and Brastemp Mondial that made the machine last much more?

Well... by the picture i could find a few more.

1) control panel and timer: WWW is fully electronic, Brastemp was electromechanical (the only electronic part is a very small board (smaller than a cigarrete box) to control the motor reversion). Even the best built electronic boards are more prone to failure than an analogic.
2) The control panel on the front... well.. here in Brazil it became more than evident that it's NOT the best design (unless to the manufacturer). Wet clothes or even throwing clothes that were soaking in a bucket can spill some water right on the control panel. No matter how well insulated it is and no matter if you don't use buckets too, it's obvious that some water will, someday, reach the internal parts of it. water and electricity doesn't match.
why don't keep it on the back, protected by the lid? Brastemp did it.

3) Am I wrong or the drum on the picture is porcelain like other whirlpool machines? Brastemp's is stainless steel. (and much thicker than the models we have today)

3) the drum is a little wider on standard Brastemp Mondial models, and much smaller on Baby Mondial.

Not that WWW isn't a great washer. I still want one in my collection. It would be wonderful to have the whole family together. (three mondials and one WWW)

By the way, how many versions of the WWW you had? Was there another wersion with more or less options on the panel or bigger/smaller drums?

Yes, it's porcelain.  The tub around that is plastic.
