Thanks for all the comments, I think I will keep the Kenmore. The quieter operation has won the day, along with the accolades from the posters above.

My WP GSQ9669LW1.  2002 model-year, late October 2003 production date.

Original transmission AFAIK, I didn't do anything to it on the refurbish.

Low speed agitation (of high, low, ex-low choices).

It has the type of timer that can turn both directions, etc.  Hear the mechanical clicking?

Looks like I made the right decision, the Kenmore is still solidly trucking along almost 5 years later.

I'd keep it. It's the next best washer after Speed Queen Classic. No wonder why Whirlpool was considered the world leader in laundry.
