In my last few posts from well over a year ago I discussed that I brought home a Whirlpool dishwasher from 2004. I was going to throw it out after removing valuable parts but I decided to keep it since it’s in such great shape for my new home that I’d like to install it into. Anyway, I spoke a little about this at the time and now that I’ve had more time to screw around with it I’ve noticed some issues. This is a Powerclean with the tower feed wash system, not direct fed it’s a whirlpool quiet partner 1.

I installed a whole new used motor assembly in November because the original motor was failing. The first time I tested this machine I wanted to see how the arms were working so I tested it briefly with the door open, and noticed the upper arm wasn’t spraying the way it should, it had quite low water pressure. I have checked the sump, the nozzle cap, the tower, both arms and can’t find any issues whatsoever. Even after putting in a new used motor and pump, the upper arm still sprays quite weak. The jets don’t reach the dishes on the top rack, I would say that it’s working almost halfway…there’s a lot of water shooting out of the upper arms tower for the roof deflector but low pressure coming out of the jet holes and even the stream in the center going to the deflector seems weak. I’ve added a gallon of water and that made no difference, it fills to the same level my portable model does so it is certainly filling with plenty of water. Does anyone have any idea what’s wrong?

I ordered a new nozzle cap for this dishwasher thinking that could have been the issue but it wasn’t, same result with that installed. For the hell of it I took all the tower feed parts out of this machine and installed them into my perfectly working portable direct feed Powerclean (which works just fine as is) and I got the same result, no significant pressure in the upper arm. I can’t figure it out I’m stumped and I’m trying to solve this once and for all so I can finally use this thing now that I have more time to mess with it. Any suggestions or anything would be great thanks.
