Whirlpool Duet Steam Washer/ Steam Dryer

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Improvements to the washer over the HT:

Deep Clean with Steam: The Catalyst cycle on the washer has been enhanced with steam to help better remove stains.

Clean Washer cycle with steam: The Self-Clean cycle also uses steam to disinfect the washer and kill all traces of existing mold. Something that TechniGeek and his "Bad news about HE washers thread should take note of.

Oxi Dispenser: basically a dispenser for colorfast bleach. This is the first washer I've seen with a colorfast bleach dispenser.

Dryer improvements over the HT:

Steam: The dryer can steam wrinkles out of laundry with the new "Enhanced Touch Up" cycle. it also has a "Quick Refresh" cycle which id just the cycle shorter.

Electric and Gas: Don't worry which heat fuel type you use. The dryer comes in electric and gas forms.

Deep Clean with Steam is essentially the Stain Treat option (found only on previous Kenmore versions) with steam added. It's nice WP can now offer a model with the stain treat option rather than simply that "function" hardwired only into the Heavy Duty cycle. I just preferred the added flexibility the Kenmore versions had.

Beautiful machines, I just love that new Green color, darn they came out a year to late for me!!

It does look just like my 9200 only they added a few buttons.

The steam idea is so good. I would like to know more about how a cycle sequence works for this. It must be very quiet.

OK would that green pass for avacodo? If so, I would consider it. Give me one in Harvest Gold, please.

In europa whirlpool (and bauknecht) have since 4 months a steam washer but no steamdryer. I like the refreshing or anti-crease option but I don't see the improvements during a washing cycle...

Yes wahertalk, the green shade is a lot like Avacado. I would definitly pass it as such. There is no one coming out in Harvest Gold because it went out it the 70s. It is however coming out in all the colors as the Duet HT. Those are "Diamond Dust" which is Silver, Black, "Biscut on Biscut" which is a biscut(or Almnod or Bisque) color, White and "White-Blue Metallic Water Drop" which is white with the door and controls a sky blue. The steam is used for the washer during the "Deep Clean" Catalyst cycle. Water fills up a small container in the machine and is heated to evaparation where it becomes steam. Afterwards, the steam is blown onto the load which is slowly tumbled. This according to Whirlpool can sanitize a load without bleach! It works exactly like the "SteamFresh" cycle on the LG TROMM SteamWasher. The washer does not have a steam only cycle but the dryer does. The dryer has the "Enhanced Touch-Up" cycle which also works like the LG's steam cycle but unlike the LG allows an entire basket or suitcase worth of laundry to be steamed! I've seen reviews of the LG SteamWasher at www.epinions.com where people complain that the SteamFresh cycle only allows a maximum of 5 items per steam cycle. The dryer makes steam the same way as the washer by hooking a hose up to the hot water inlet line for the washer. Also this the first modern washer I've seen in Green which is great because Green is my favorite color! Also this is the first washer I've seen with a separate dispenser for colorfast bleach.

I don't know it just does. If you put in more than 5 items, you will get an overloaded error. That's why the dryer of this set owns over the LG TROMM SteamWasher.

There is also a Kenmore-branded version of the machine. It is known as the HE5t Steam and HE3t Steam. The washer has a "Steam Treat" option. It is probably the same as the "Deep Clean With Steam" on the Duet Steam but I'm not sure because it still has the classic "Catalyst Cleaning Action". The Sanitary and Clean Washer cycles use steam to sanitize laundry and sanitize the drum. The Steam Treat option has an indicator light the same Cool Blue as today's electronic gadgets!
