Does anyone have any experience with this model? I am having lots of problems with the plastic tumblers(?) that are mounted on the inside of the drum, they keep breaking off. We have had the unit for less than six months and about a month ago they started breaking off, the repair man is about to make his third trip back to replace them. They have plastic flanges that fit snugly into fairly sharp metal slots in the drum. My simple logic tells me that when 10 pounds of wet clothes are slammed against thin plastic mounted to sharp steel, something (plastic) is going to give. I hate to be stuck with something that was expensive as this was and have it down for maintainence constantly.

Sounds Familiar.......
Over this side or the pond Merloni Hotpoints and anything of the same origins are very prone to drum paddles breaking off- Hotpoint call them drum lifters!

I've had the same model since February. So far no problems and I have packed it full of bath & beach towels a couple of times. The paddles breaking off is not acceptible to me, especially when Whirlpool hypes these machines as being able to wash 16 pairs of jeans in a single load. That would test the strength of any set of paddles. I hope I don't end up with your same problem. This is disturbing news.

I had the Kenmore HE3 (similar to Whirlpool Duet) and hated it. I took it back to Sears after 6 months and got full credit. I bought Maytag Neptunes and very very pleased with the performance and reliability.

I've seen a lot written in various places on line by Kenmore owners who hate their machines, which are mechanically the same as Duets. Yet there's very little complaining out there on the Duets. I would think a recall would be in order if everybody was having this paddle problem. It's hard to tell if this model of Duet was manufactured after Whirlpool supposedly whipped the German manufacturer into shape as has been stated elsewhere on this site, but I am hoping that is the case. I don't like paying so much for a machine that's going to fall apart on me starting the first year I've owned it. I think at the very least, you should ask to return the machine and get another one. Yours seems to have issues that aren't common, unless the repair guy has advised you otherwise.

My "tribe" in Ukiah have Whirlpool Duet's since they first came out. They have not had any problems with them as far as repair. I just don't like them. The washer shakes the entire house in high speed spin.(washer is level).The washer does not have enough water in it. I do not like the pull out drawer for soap/softner/bleach. It is always gunked up and is hard to pour bleach in the little tiny square with out spilling it onto the floor. The lint filter on the dryer is hard to get out and hard to clean. The dryer cool down consist of on/off tumbling. The concept of cool down is to keep the clothes moving until they are cool to reduce wrinkles. The Duet's are know for door problems,cheep platic handles that break off. I still say take it back and try the Maytag Neptunes. I think you will be MUCH happier!

Have the 9300 and matching gas dryer. They have been in service for over a year. No problem with 15 or so bath towels. Performs well, dryer is fast. Friends just installed a pair in their bed and breakfast using the electric dryer. Their laundry staff is very happy. I have them in a corner for stability, the same location of the previous washer and dryer. No problem with vibration. Do the clean cycle monthly as directed. I find the Duet pair to be excellent. Friends that have a resturant got the washer only. Said that the kitchen whites have never been cleaner.

I've had mine for 2 years and the only problem I had was the "coin catcher"completely disintigrating.They came out promptly and replaced it.Otherwise,no problrms!By the way,there is a way of increasing your water level.

I'm not exactly thrilled with the lint screen assembly on the dryer but it's a vast improvement over the problematic one on my old Amana, which had to be replaced a few times and still let a ton of lint into the ductwork. And the Duet dryer is very quiet thus far. The Amana was an instant rattle trap that became really annoying, even with the dryer being located out in the garage.
One thing I've noticed is that the disposable mesh lint catchers I attach to the end of the washer's drain hose gather more lint and need to be replaced way sooner than they ever did with my old Amana. Any theories on why the Duet washer spits out more lint more often than the old Amana TL?
I have noticed that when using the "Quick Wash" cycle on the Duet, a lot more water goes into the tub. The owner's manual doesn't make mention of this, but through my observations there is no question that it puts a lot more water in on that cycle.
I'm curious about how to get ALL cycles to use more water. Do tell.

I would say sooner than later. I have never heard of that Problem, and I hope to never hear of that problem ever again.Many states have lemon laws that applies to new appliances, this may fall under that. I believe that when you buy something new, it should work well with out frequent attendance from a repair person.If there is a need for one frequently, send them back.I have a few friends that have the Duets and I have not heard ot fhis problem.I recament the Bosch Nexxt.
