I once had an avocado TL Whirlpool (lost in relationship breakup!) I really would like to find a similar model to it, but I can't find any reference to it anywhere on this site. I'm sure it wasn't that unusual or unique.

Let me try to describe it and maybe someone will recognize the description. It had a standard size basket and for all intensive purposes was a full size washer. BUT, it was narrower. It did not have a backsplash on it, the controls were on the front face. There also was a handle that spanned the width of the front. There was a shifter on the back that allowed it to shift from wheels to feet. The lint trap was on the right like must Whirlpools of the time, and was like nylon bristles that the water flowed through. I think it might have had "magic filter" written on it, not sure though.

Not sure what else I remember...the cycles were typical for the vintage...super to normal...permanent press...gentle.

I guess like most of us here, this is the model I've been looking to replace for 20 years now! How often do we find the machines that seem to elude us!

I think you are referring to the Kenmore/Whirpool machines
that were marketed as "portable" as opposed to "apartment
sized". The only member that I can readily recall as having
one is cleanteamofny, aka Larry. He isn't in the members collections photos, but maybe he will post a pic for you.

Guy, I had an Eatons Viking portable much like that. Didn't have a handle across the front. I believe mine was a GE but could be wrong. Had a removable fabric softener dispenser that sat over the agitator like on a GE. Anyways, my other half soon destroyed it with constant overloading and we bought the GE FF around 89. I kept that portable for quite a few years in the garage thinking one day I'd get it fixed, this was long before this club. Eventually it got carted to the dump. dammit.

Holy cow that's it!

Larry, you have to me tell your story of how you found it! I've been looking for 20 years. Do you use it? Mine was avocado green, but it sure looks cool in brown. I guess it goes without saying that if you ever want to sell it...please let me know. I'll be happy to come down to NY. My partner has a cousin in Chelsea that he haven't visited lately. Have you ever seen another one? What year do you think they made them?

Anyways, very exciting to see one again. Many thanks for the pictures!
