I just picked up my first vintage washer and wanted to know if anyone in laundry land new of its date and any other neat facts about this washer. I paid $46 dollars for it. Was that to much? It works. Thanks so much for the help.

Well first of all, hello Graham and welcome to AW.org. Congrats on your find! I'm not sure exactly when that model is from, but there are some here who know Whirlpool dates by the serial numbers. Once we see it we should be able to tell just by looking at the machine.

Looking forward to your pictures.

LVA is probably 1970 or 1971, depending on when the models changed. I'm pretty sure LXA is 1972, based on an LXE dryer my grandmother got in that year. W wasn't used for year designation, being as it was reserved for White color code.

Thanks so much

I appreciate all the help with the dating. I was curious. I would get a picture up sooner but my cell phone does not want to send the picture i took of it to me e-mail address.

Another question, the washer seems to have a light below the work panel but without a switch. Would this light turn on once the work load was set or what? I have not yet hooked it up to see. Also, the rubbers that seem to keep the washer lid from banging our dry rotted, what do you suggest i replace them with? Thanks again for the help. I really appreciate it!!
