Hey gang,
I'm in the middle of a what has been a fun restoration of a belt drive Whirlpool/Kenmore (I'll post more details once I'm done). Everything was going swimingly until I broke the nipple off the hose dome connector, while removing the outer tub.
Here is what I know so far (based on parts list for a 1959 Lady Kenmore 110.5905950 and a 1965 MOL Kenmore 110.6514712 from Sears Parts online):
The part numbers appear to be separate for the rubber hose and the plastic connector/dome.
The original PN for the hose was: 17288. Superseded with 97606
The original PN for the dome was: 18624. Superseded with 97723
The hose seems to be alive in a few parts houses online, but just barely, and I found one place that does have the dome, which is what I broke originally.
My question is: does anyone know if this was ever sold as an assembly - hose and dome together? All of the parts lists I have found list the two as separate items.
If you look through Robert's awesome 1957 Lady Kenmore rebuild, he replaced the hose. I'm assuming that the hose he received probably came with a dome already installed, but I don't want to assume too much. This isn't a huge deal, but I'm literally just a few hours worth of work away from water testing, and I want to make sure this is done right.
I do have a 1 piece plastic dome that I could pull from a parts '69 Kenmore, but I wasn't sure if the pressure variation would be the same between the later, plastic dome, and the earlier rubber/plastic dome, causing water level issues with the older pressure switch.
Thanks in advance!
Ben
