I don't always agree with CR's findings on appliances, but you have to admit, they have the most unbiased info on most subjects. Some of their test findings on similar machines does sometimes puzzle me (rating a Kenmore t/l washer better than a W/P)though Sears does put more features on their machines than W/P. Whirlpool/ Kenmore always gets my vote for most all appliances. Their quality is consistent across the product line. The only weak appliance,I think, is their gas range. They need to provide drip pans for those sealed burners!!!

WP ranges

It would be nice if WP would offer that night light on their gas ranges like they do on their TOL electric models.
