So my question is simple. What is the difference in these machines. The control panel is different but the inside looks identical. I know they made the quiet partner II as recently as 2008-2010ish I believe. I know some people mentioned sticking with units from 2001 and earlier, so I am guessing they made some energy saving changes that lowered performance of these machines? Any information about this would be cool to know.
Thanks,

The power cleans stayed pretty similar mechanically over their run. The biggest differences was between the badges they were sold under. I believe quiet power I vs II refers to the amount of sound deadening. The older units did full two rinses while the newer units made do with a purge and a final rinse. Using the high temp wash will force two rinses on the electronic models anyways. I believe other than the purges/rinses the cycle sequence stayed fairly consistent too. Pots and pans had the thermostatically held pre wash and main wash, normal wash had a prewash and a main wash.

Had the portable I bought in 1990 model # DP8700XT I believe it was and what a powerhouse.Had the machine until I moved last year. Should have taken it with me.

It's probably a Kia by now but it had no rust on the racks or the tub. Loads better than my current Frigidaire but I can't complain. Count our blessings because we have had many.

As a sidenote, the older power clean units would run the pump in water recirculation mode when the dishwasher would fill. I love that!
It's not unusual. KitchenAid did it for years. Fisher & Paykel DishDrawers do so for sensing the fill level via motor current draw.
