Whirlpool PowerClean dishwashers

I've got to say, I'm insanely jealous of you all here that own a PowerClean. These are hands down the best dishwashers built. To me they seem to be the peak of balancing power and results with efficiency and water usage. My aunt still has hers from 2002, and the thing runs a full "Bob load" nearly every day (herself and my uncle, and four kids); they don't rinse anything at all, and sometimes there will be bits of food on the door and in the bottom before a cycle. I don't think I've ever witnessed her use anything but Normal w/Air Dry and no extra options, and it runs 1 wash, a purge, and then 1 rinse with squeaky clean and spotless results. I myself have been searching for one to buy from someone that hasn't been mistreated, but they're nearly impossible to come across. No one wants to give theirs up lol. You guys that have them, take extra good care of these babies. They're like gold.

Some are still giving them up. Keep an eye on Craigslist. I've seen a few really good shape ones.

tell us something we don't know......

if you can't find a PowerWash....search under the Kenmore brand of 'UltraWash', same unit inside and out......don't go by the brand, it must say 'UltraWash' on the panel...

I have two, one bought brand new...and a spare I got from Habitat for 40.00....both are convertibles

when you do get one....bake and frost a chocholate cake....and toss it in there, and see what happens......theres also JohnL's dried up ketchup bottle test.....sparkling clean every time...!

these 'sensor' ones are very nice too.....changes the water based on how dirty the water gets, once cleared, it moves on to the rinses!

Don"t forget the Later KitchenAids

or even the ISE dishwashers. The Model 23 series and the Classic 3000 series were Hobart based units but with the PowerClean pumps and 4 way Hydrosweeps. They also ran the wash cycles until the water heated up to approx 140 like their WP And KM counterparts. You get the attributes of the Powerclean modules along with the racking and cycle selections of the KitchenAid designs.

Also, once WP turned the KA's into their direct clones, basically the 24 series on, you have the identical washing systems as well as related controls as the WP's and KM's. So there are many more choices than you may have thought of.

You can find them everywhere I see them all the time.While I prefer my 1984 Kitchenaid Superba which I still can't get over

how good this thing is, I doubt it was use over 50 times in 30 years.The Whirlpool power-clean is a monster for cleaning

and so is the G.E. dishwasher's Old ones that is and that goes double if it has that Orbital wash arm in it.

My Kitchenaid can out wash  using light wash and packed to the gills food dumped in the bottom than any new dishwasher

I have seen.Light wash is done and over in about 30 or so mins and the dishes are spotless. My L.G. takes hours and there is grit and grime everywhere on the longest wash.It's odd with the L.G. it seems normal wash is more powerful than Power-scrub.
