Whirlpool Top Filter Gas Dryer Question

Does one need to have a gas line hooked up to get the motor to run and the drum to turn?
The older ones seem to run happily without gas, but this newer one won’t run and i don’t have a gas line i can hook it up to.

Non Running WP Gas Dryer

Motor operation has nothing to do with the dryer being connected to a gas line, whether to gas is on or off for that matter as well.

If the Air Only Cycle does not work the dryer plugged in there is another problem.

Dryer runs like a champ! What was it? The **ON** button is also the end-of-cycle signal switch, duh!
Never under estimate user error as a fruitful avenue of inquiry.
In my defense let me say as it is so common at this point, I noticed someone ran a bic pen through the dryer, (even found the damn thing), and the fumes from cleaning the blue tint from everything with Goof OFF really does a number on one’s brain function.[this post was last edited: 1/30/2019-19:15]

Blue ink?  More commonly the blue tint is from denim jeans.

Denim that is washed in a cold water cycle so the excess dye rubs off on the dryer drum instead of bleeding away in the warm wash.

Denim in general... Most jeans warn that you should not sit on bright colored seating...

The driver's seat on my previous car got stained a blue tinge from jeans.  I keep a towel on the seat now.

that's why I refuse to have light colored gray or tan seats anymore.
