Hello everybody. What did Whirlpool do to their transmissions over the years ever since they moved from belt drive to direct drive? Did they use fewer parts and in turn make their transmissions lighter and smaller? How heavy were the direct drive transmissions as opposed to the belt driven ones? I am curious as to how they made their agitation arcs shorter and in turn agitate at high speeds while keeping the motor running at full speed. Did they always use metal gears for durability? Inquiring minds want to know.
