A member of this site who dosen't post much anymore uploaded a video to YouTube of this new DW.



Interesting things to note:

The water level seems relativley high even though not covering the heating element. But that might be due to the missing load.
ANd filling is pretty slow.

They apparently still use a simple single speed pump which is surprising. A good 60-70% of all machines on this side of the pond use a multiple speed pump - though most of that is pushed by BSH.

Every sprayzone appears to have its own feed and water diverter setting. Even the top sprayer seems to run on its own which is surprising.

I wonder if WP slowed down the filling to quiet down the filling portion of the cycle? My newish WP is pretty loud during filling.

I'm a little surprised each wash arm is it's own zone. Seems like more wear and tear on the wash pump and diverter motor.
 
slow fill

I would imagine the slow fill is for a more precise water volume. I don't see a float valve, but I could be wrong. Even if it is a little plugged up over the years, I don't think it will make a difference at that flow rate.
Also, I noticed that there is a rather big spot on the bottom rack right in the middle where it looks like no water is sprayed. Lots of residual suds, too.
 
New WP-MT-KA DW Pump Design Etc

The fill rate is actually pretty fast for a new DW, these DWs do have a flow meter so it should be able to get the correct amount of water as the inlet valve ages [ the inlet screen is very unlikely to clog on any DW especially these newer low water use machines, I don't see a clogged inlet screen on a DW even once in 5 or more years ]

 

These DWs use a sturdy-powerful one speed motor with a spinning filter screen system, no silly variable speed motor.

 

These DWs do not use a regular tank mounted overflow float, instead they have an overflow float mounted in a tray under the front of the DW that will shut things down and cycle the drain pump on if it detects water overflowing into the tray. [ this may be a mixed blessing, getting rid of the float inside the DW will save service calls from stuck or leaking floats, the bad thing is the tray system may be too sensitive to slight leakage from oversudsing and shut down the machine.

 

These DWs are very roomy and will do a very good job with no stinky-slimly filter to ever clean. The bad news is these are the first WP built DWs that you will have to uninstall and pull out to repair or replace the drain or main pumps so a lot more DWs will be thrown out because of the difficuly of repair like Bosch, Miele, Asko, SS and LG etc.

 

I installed 3 of the MT MBD4949*** versions of this new design on this past Thursday, they look pretty nice, one replaced a Bosch [ customer could not believe how big it was  inside compared to old Bosch ] the 2nd one replaced a high end 3YO GE that failed for the 2nd time, and the 3rd replaced a 1993 last tub MT DW.

At the beginning of the video, it looks like a bit of water is sent to the bottom arm, then stops, then the bottom arm sprays a bit, then stops, then the middle arm sprays a bit, then stops, before starting to spray continuously. Does anyone know why this happens?

Combo52 - What is silly about a variable speed pump? I think my DW has one and it is able to use a very high pressure when running the 1-hour wash, high pressure for pots and pans, and a lower pressure for other cycles, and all of the rinses. I am not sure its filter is impacted by the spray pressure.
 
Jerrod, this phenomenon was explained to me almost 15 years ago. The two short blasts of the pump is to help condition the tank. The conditioning was found to be needed in certain situations. Believe it or not, there are those who keep their water heater as high as it will go. In certain situations, when the dishwasher had filled with this very hot water from the initial fill, that when the water circulation started sometimes the door would pop open because of the huge disparity of temperature between the inside of the dishwasher and surrounding area.
