I've decided my good old Whirly Design 2000 is due for a rebuild- it's exhibiting the signs of trans/clutch failure. Occasionally it will grind instead of beginning to agitate, and extraction on heavy loads is poor.

Can anyone point me to good clear instructions on how to replace these components, plus the pump? I figure while I'm in there, might as well get 'er ready for another 19 years.

It would be great if someone out there has a link to this information! I have the same Design 2000 washer. It has been "surgilating" happily and reliably for nearly 20 years, but occasionally I detect the smell of hot oil after a number of loads, and sometimes a little noise as well. Nothing drastic and so long as it keeps going I'll be content, but if it develops a big problem then it would be nice to have some information on how to fix it instead of just replacing it with a newer model.
