The part numbers above are correct. Sears will sell you the 285144 for $70 or so and the 89346 for $75, BUT I checked ebay, and I would get the valve there if I were you.

There is a valve body with solenoid for $49.50 w/ free shipping. There is another item as a valve body only (as 285144) for $25 or best offer. Both are good deals and I think worth a Whirl!

The new valve body is plastic I believe, which won't corrode like your old one did.

Let us know how it goes!

Congrats on that gorgeous Whirlpool. It is almost exactly the Brady Bunch model. My aunt had one in this color, but hers had a self cleaning filter, pushbuttons for water temps, chrome agitator cap, and an arched console light. Would I be correct in guessing this to be a 1969/1970 model? The Surgilator looks awesome, and yes, so does that brush filter. The tub looks like it is white. Is that the case, or is it speckled? Great washer, and I hope you have loads of fun with it.

Have a good one,
James

Thanks to every one with help on the parts. Will keep you posted of repair progress.

James the tub is white. The old lady who owned this machine did keep it fairly clean. I think her grandson said it sat unused for about a year to a year & half.

Can not wait to get the suds value and get it installed. Since I bought my Frigdaire in Feb 2002 I have been saving the water and putting back in the washer with a bucket.

I just order the 2 way valve for $35 from from affordable appliances recommend by Rich (Trainguy). I should have the part next week. Thank all of you for your help. I really appreciate it.
