Who do you recommend for S&H of a Baby "Frigette"?

It has been a while since I used a shipping service (for antique furniture). Just convinced the seller of the Frigette TT on fleaBay that I want the machine to ship and have made a decent bid on it so he knows I mean it. He is mum on what he meant by "needs a little tweaking" but, hey, I am goin' for it - regardless. He offered to bubble wrap, shrink wrap, and place shipping straps around it for commercial freight. But I don't want this Baby's unique control panel damaged so I want to use a shipping service you all have been pleased with. TYVM! Robert

But are they good?

I am about to get my first vintage appliance and I need to have it shipped. I need to know that whomever I choose will be considerate to the seller (as I cannot be there), that they will crate it well to minimize any damage, and that it will get here in one piece.

I really have no idea where to start finding a shipper. Beltman seems to be the one of choice from what I have read here. They are pricy but if they are good then I am willing to pay.

You guys are the experts as you've done this many times, I am still a virgin! I want my first time to be a good one!

I have used Creighters & Freighters to ship antique furniture in the past year and they were EXTREMELY generous with bubble wrap, palatting and shrink wrap. The sweater chest was not a big concern but the antique Windsor rocker was with its fragile spindles. Every single one was intact. Just my personal experience mind you...I will know how their service is next Tuesday with the arrival of my baby Fridgette and report back.
 
Craters and Freighters are franchises. Go to the main C&F website and one can search for local service via zip code. You can also submitt a quote request on line and C&F will get back to you.

Just so you know, just because C&F's website says a location services a certian area, you need to contact them directly to see if this is true. Many times an area without a franchise will show the nearest C&F office. Problem is the item you wish to ship could be so far from that office they will either not want the job or will charge you dearly for going out of their way.

I took a couple of pics of their superb packaging of our Baby Fridgette. Used heavy gauge boxing and screwed the boxing at all four corners to the wood palette. Used a generous amount of foam to insulate all over as well. As far as packing they have been wonderful for us. As far as delivery? Our experience with the franchise drivers is mixed. 1st experience the driver gave me a hard time of finding our street as it wasn't yet on the city map (my msg via C&F was to have driver call me 1hr before del so I could guide them myself). 2d experience- my msg via C&F was to have driver call 1hr before so I could be home. Yesterday they just showed up without calling but fortunately DW was home to receive Fridgette. The Baby is quite entertaining for a newbie TT owner. The washing action is an agressive clockwise swirl and with more than a few items it could tangle I think. The spinner basket sounds like it is steel (!) and is very efficient at spinning, most things don't take more than 1 minute to be damp dry (has a 5 minute timer) and the basket stops spinning fairly quick when the door is opened (and resets the timer). I have not opened her up and wonder if she has a pump or if she is meant to be gravity drain only. Also, I haven't figured out what the hole in the middle back of the machine is for...doesn't seem to be a water intake. Any ideas, Launderess? Should I post pics?? tyvm in advance
