Who hates doing laundry?

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Look up lists of chores people hate to do and laundry is invariably near the top. Most of us at AW enjoy---or at least don't mind---doing laundry because it dovetails nicely with our interest in appliances. Personally, my interest in laundry drops significantly at the washer's end-of-cycle chime. It flatlines to near zero during the fold-and-put-away portion of the process.

While I'm not one of them, I can imagine many people wish Washio's services were available to them!

I love the washing and drying

But HATE the folding, Donald does most of it, he worked for 20 years in dept stores so he folds better than me, I never fold anything the same way twice which drives him mad,,,he and my Mother are the only 2 people ive ever known who can fold a fitted sheet just like it came out of the package....

Once upon a time

I had a plastic fantastic GE. And laundry was indeed a chore.

But fate intervened. The GE gave up the ghost. I had to decide. And fast.

Enter Speed Queen with the marvelous SS tub. The all metal transmission. The fully controlable fill level. Tap hot water.

Now washday is indeed a dream.

I love it all, the washing, drying and the folding. I find what makes my life easier when it comes to folding is that I have a Flip and Fold like what they show on tv at times...love it and shirts stack up neatly and are the same rectangle size to put away neatly. I only use the Flip n Fold for t shirts and pullovers....

i don't mind doing laundry. I've always enjoyed it. It use to be that folding was a chore but once i came to the realization that if I fold it as I take it out of the dryer than the hassle of doing it later is not a problem plus everything doesn't get as wrinkled.

I too, also worked in retail for more than 20 yrs and have done my fair share of folding. Flip-n-fold boards were a common tool in clothing to keep things uniform. A couple of those years were in domestics (bedding and linens) so fitted sheet folding became much easier once the trick of folding the corners over each other was learned. So now it's just second nature.

I see I'm not alone in the folding and putting away category. I still have laundry from the other day that I need to re-fold and put away. And Norgeway, my sister is another one of those people that can do the same thing as your mother with a fitted sheet.

I am

Exactly the same as Frigilux. I like the loading in the washer and dosing the detergent.

Once the cycle has ended, I lose a lot of interest.

Sometimes, I will have spurts when I like the whole process. I am in one now, and it has been going a while, so hopefully it will stick :)

Ironing...Folding...Putting Away...

are the worst parts of the chore. Washing and Drying? Never a problem here, NEVER!

Echoing what Frigilux said.....

Once the washer finishes and loads go into the dryers, I go back in the house and do something else until the dryers are ready for the next load.

(I have 4, sometimes 5 washer connected, but only room for 3 dryers to be hooked up and working in the garage / laundry area.)

I actually love the folding too, along with the washing and drying. As long as I have some earphones in, it's good thinking time. Although drying isn't much to look at, it's fun piling fresh damp clothes into the dryer and seeing them fluffy and new-looking once it's done.

The bane of my laundry is the putting away. For some reason I have always had a hard time actually getting the clothes sorted into their respective drawers. My laundry room looks like that of my Aunt Robin's with her house full of people, though we are only two bodies in my household. The dryer will have nice little stacks of our clothes on top, which will sit and accumulate for a few days until I get tired of reaching over them to turn on the dryer, and the hangbars along the wall shelves will have easily 20 shirts hanging at any time. Usually they make it to the tops of our dressers, where mine will pile up even worse until I get sick of looking at it, or things start falling off.

I'm good with it...

until the laundry comes out of the tub. Luckily I'm married to She who is known in the family as "The Laundry Queen"... one who doesn't even mind hanging it out to line dry in November, in upstate NY! Now, if I could only get her interested in "Classic Vintage" instead of "New & Improved". At least I've convinced her on a new Speed Queen next time... only fitting for "The Queen".

Washing and folding anything is not an issue for me.
I HATE to wash bedding! I just dread the weekly bedding washing!
