Who made the “deepfreeze”?

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

And remember, one of the first home freezers was Aunt Bea's energy sucking heap that mysteriously moved more than an off balance spinning washer and made the lights dim.

It was awful. Gotta call someone.

Cadman picked up an original "Deepfreeze" brand freezer in Jan., 2014.  It is from the late 1940's.

My aunt had a Deep Freeze back in the 50s early 60s.. I think it was through some sort of home freezer "club" where they supplied you the freezer and you made payments and also ordered your meats and frozen veggies etc through them every month. Something like that anyways.

That reminds me...Swestoyz picked up one of the later ones like in the top pic, though it was still pre-Amana. Built like a tank, beautiful chrome, and a temp signal light. I believe he ended up parting it out.

I have a small chest freezer in my kitchen. I noticed the other day how warm the outside of the cabinet was. It was running at the time. Never noticed this before, but may have been this way all the time. I just checked it this morning and it is very cool to the touch. It is not running at present. I am sure there must be lines running through it for cooling and maybe return lines that are hotter are in there. It needs to be defrosted but nothing major. Is this normal and I never noticed? It is a Holiday, cheap freezer from Home Depot or BJ's. It is 7 years old and is cooling great. Any reason for concerns?

Warm Freezer Cabinet

Almost all chest and many upright freezers and many smaller refrigerators have the hot condenser tubing in the outside walls of the cabinet.

There are several advantages and disadvantages of building freezers etc this way.  This shell condenser works well on freezers that are often in damp areas, by keeping the outside of the cabinet warm it keeps the cabinet from getting condensation then mold and rust on it.

The other advantage is the condenser does not get dirty and lose efficiency.

The disadvantage is the appliance is always operating in a 100F room because the warm cabinet heat soaking back into the interior of the freezer or refrigerator which makes ir work harder.

Hi Jon, but it is completely normal for the outside to get fairly warm, in fact if you put a lot of food in to freeze on a warm day parts of the cabinet may get quite warm to the touch. It is also helpful not to cover the sides with boxes etc to allow good air circulation around the appliance.
