Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

One word...

And that word is CRAP- these are made by the same company that made the "Retro" looking Servis Twinnie about 10 years ago the name of which escapes me at the moment. Where I worked at the time sold these and almost every one came back as faulty, truly an awful machine!!!!!

I hardly dare say this, but they were made by a Dutch company by the name of Velaundry. These washers were sold in the Netherlands under the name Velo. Velo used to be a quality product, there are still many older wringer washers used. Unfortunately at a certain moment the factory was taken over and that is where the history of the crap Velaundry produced starts. I'm not sure if this is an older machine of one of the newer ones. They look the same. If you want to be safe, then stay away from them. Parts are no longer available at the factory because they went bankrupt.

Cheers Mike

I saw your video its a clever design at least the doing away with the clunky gearbox surely makes it quieter and less to go wrong it reminds me of the Servis twinny my Mum had back in 64 it was a Mk 1 with the pump lever not dial I loved that machine and can remember it now, I would so like to see one in action again sadly have never come accross one of that vintage I have used newer ones since though but its not the same.

Pop! Twaaaaaaaaangg g gg ggg!

Exactly, Nate, I thought the exact same Syncro-Swing thang!

Very interesting design, looks Asian built. I like that they used a black agitator in the stainless tub. How much does a similar style Servis hold? 7 lbs would be admirable for a twinnie, the Hoover & Maytags here will barely circulate 5 lbs.

Norfrost / Velo

Hi Austin, it is an interesting design, it makes a very different sound to the larger gearboxes of old, but I would say its slightly louder than a good old fashioned gearbox from a traditional Servis twinny...it did make us all gasp when we saw this design, we had seen nothing like it before, the capacitor is nearly as big as the motor and I`ve seen bigger lawnmower engines...LOl

Hi Greg, the Hoover twinnys are rated 6lb, but like you say on max capacity some loads labour badly...the Servis / Speedqueen holds 6lbs and the Hotpoint 7lb which clearly has a deeper tub...the modern Servis badged Velo machine hada retro feel to it, like the first Servis MK1 from 1959 which Austin remembers...again its a poor imitation to the quality of the first Servis built machines
