Why do modern hotpoint washing machines spin anti clockwise?

Hi guys.
Was hoping that someone on here might know why the newer hotpoints spin anti clockwise or as I say backwards.
Can't really find any info on the Web and personally I don't think it does a better spin.
I posted a few weeks ago about my new hotpoint s line which replaced my beko and even though both were 1400 spin prefer the beko spun more water out. I've noticed the dryer is on for an extra twenty minutes or so since I've had the hotpoint.
Any info would be great and apologies if it's already been mention in another thread

I don't think the spin direction plays a role in term of residual moisture. I guess its more about spin time and things like drum patterns etc.

This whole spin direction thing is a lot about pump placement and design. Its basicly about pushing the water into the pump during early spin phase so the pump dosen't get air blocked and thus reducing the chance of suds locking.

You might try to just run an additional spin only programm to compensate for lacking spin time.

Hi. Cheers for the info. I do an extra spin and makes no difference at all. I'm really regretting parting with my beko now. Out of all the machines I've owned it's only hotpoint/Indesit that spin this way. Oh well. Live and learn lol

Maybe its due to the added pump for the Direct Injection.

If the extended time really bothers you, a spin dryer could help. Especially with heavy fibers like towels or bedding, the usual 2800rpm of these safe a lot of time even with washers spinning at 1600rpm.
You could check if the washer spins properly by weighing load before and after the cycle. The damp weight should not be more then 1,5 to 1,6 times the weight of the dry load after a 1400rpm spin.

I've got a spinner that I keep just in case. My hotpoint washing machine I bought five years ago was a basic model and that spun backward as well.

Spin Direction

Makes no difference at all in washer extraction performance, however washers that spin counter-clockwise are usually best suited for use below the equator, LOL.

I thought a counter clockwise spin was for those of us hoping to go back in time. LOL

Or if the washer is a WCI Frigidaire, IT is hoping to go back in time to when Frigidaire meant Top Quality.

My 2015 Hotpoint Smart 1400rpm spins anti clockwise just like the Elux made AEG and Zanussi's I had prefer. I actually prefer this direction to the clockwise of the Beko that I had when I did a flatshare. I guess it's just what I'm used to.

I don't think the direction has anything to do with the water extraction. I find the spin on my machine to be effective. Say if I use my 2800rpm spin drier. I can remove a glass full of extra water.

Spin direction

I was under the impression that this depended on the position of the detergent dispenser... The idea being not to throw water up the dispenser tube at the start of spinning.

Washers spinning counter-clockwise

All Hotpoint GE Frigidaire (WCI and Electrolux) washers been spinning counter-clockwise since the early 80s. Hotpoint and GE been using the counterclockwise spin for the longest. Frigidaire didn't use the counterclockwise spin until the early 1980s, White-Westinghouse been using that as well since the 70s, except for the Spacemates series. Maytag spins the same way as Hotpoint and GE.
