All used to be available a long time ago. In the 1970's and 1980's.

Persil Pro-Clean is now available at Canadian Wal-Marts and I saw it too at Jean Coutu!!!

It would depend...

On whether the company feels there is space in the market for it.

Of course, Persil is new to US and has now expanded to Canada, whereas All has been around for years and still not expanded to Canada.

I dunno if it is the same over there, but in the UK launching a new brand almost never happens (sure things are changed all the time, scents, formats, etc) but in terms of brands, nothing new.

In the last 40 years or so, we have lost these brands:

TIDE
WISK
OMO
DRIVE
RADIANT
BREEZE
... Possibly more

In that same time, I can only remember one mainstream brand being launched, and even that's gone now (RADION).

Of course smaller brands have come and gone, but nearly no mainstream brands.

So it would look like, unless there is a clear gap in the market for a new brand (no other similar products already on sale) or unless there is HUGE customer demand, then there wouldn't normally be a cause to launch. As no company would launch a product unless it is thoroughly researched and know it would sell.
