Hey guys,
Wondering if anyone has any idea, what size duvet would fit in my 7kg hotpoint. I normally do them at the launderette, so im fairly clueless as to what fits a domestic machine!

thanks!

Darren

Hey Darren,

I was also wondering the same as you and I just took an attempt.

Last Sunday I put my winter-duvet (extra-thick) in my 5 kg AEG machine with some Perwoll and some liquid oxygen bleach.
I really had to press the duvet in my washer, but after 5 min washing, the duvet was fluffed down and filled the drum 2/3 full.
I did a 60° cycle with 2 extrarinses, after 132 min it was washed well, rinsed good and super dry-spun!

I think, that it will fit in your 7 kg machine!

Hey lavamat78800!
Thanks for the advice! I am going to give it a try, if im sucessful i will film it tomorrow!:D

My parents AEG is only 5kg but very generous for its size, i never attempted in that as i thought it would be too small!

Wish me luck

Darren

Darren,

My 7kilo washer does 155x250 duvets without difficulty. so yours should, too.
A few suggestions I have picked up off this site over they years have helped.
One, I dissolve the water softener (we need it in Munich) in warm water first. That takes care of the white streaks which sometimes show up in the middle of the duvet.
Two, I use the minimum of detergent (liguid) and throw in two extra rinses.
Three, I put a few of those dryer balls in with the duvet in the dryer. Fluffs it up beautifully. Oh, I dry on the lowest heat setting.
Hope that helps.

Darren, Seeing as I have the same drum as you I feel the need to add my bit ;-)

I last night, washed a 10.5 tog Double Duvet in the Hotpoint.
I start it on a spin cycle (let it do one burst to get the air out, the miele pillows cycle does the same, it really helps)

I then set it to fastwash (the 60 one) as it tumbles whilst it fills, when its stopped filling, i cancel the programme, and restart the fastwash again, i do the same once more.

This just ensures a decent enough water level for the machine to wash it in.

In your case I'd do this, Set the machine to the NORMAL dirt option and add as many rinses as you can. I'd actually reccomend you use a clean rinsing powder. Persils range rinse out really well.
Make sure the temp is set to 60c! LOL

Good Luck, you must post the results!
