Just wondering if top loader washers are to be discontinued in the future per DOE regs.
Also what is going to happen to affordable low end maschines(Roper,Inglis,Admiral, low end GE)?

Top-loaders will continue to be manufactured, but I believe the wash plate/infusor design will dominate. It wouldn't surprise me if traditional agitator machines go the way of the dinosaur, eventually.

My suggestion would be to bring back the suds-saver, but since the new HE top-loaders use so little water, it probably seems silly to reuse wash water. Not to mention that fewer people have space for a laundry sink to hold the reserved wash water.

That's why I bought a traditional top-loader (2006 Frigidaire) a few years ago. I wanted the novelty of an indexing tub and a traditional agitator and figured I'd better snag one while they're still available.

I hope this never happens. I don't want to use a front load in my life time.

Frigilux - I love your 2006 Frigidaire. You need to post new vids!

I called Speed Queen and they confirmed (in a round about way) even less water usage next year in 2011. I'm going to go ahead and give my sis my Whirlpools at the house and pick up another set of Speed Queens for my house. It's probably the last traditional toploader that I will be able to buy and adjust the water levels.
