I have the very first Speed Queen automatic washer, it was made in 1952! Just entered it into their contest lol. It won't be the oldest as there must be older wringer SQ out there, but hopefully they will take notice.
Yes there should be a category for the oldest SQ, Automatic, Dryer, WW and even the SQ DW and of corse the SQ combination, { I would probably win that one ]
I'll bet there is someone at SQ that monitors this site daily, all of our entries will be tossed.
FYI, so it seems unfortunately that Greg's prediction was correct. They are adding new entries to their website, but never bothered added my 1952 Speed Queen to their website.
I am impressed that they even have a picture of a SQ combo.
I was thinking that I would enter our SQ combination in the contest, ours is a 1962 model.
SQ was the last US company to introduce a combination Washer-Dryer, it came out around 1961.
The SQC was the smallest US combination measuring only 25 1/2" wide, it had a decent spin speed of over 500 RPMs with a full suspension system with four springs at the top and two hydraulic shocks below. All were water condensing electric models.
