Wind Chimes!!

I don't mind them if they aren't in my yard.. We have a couple cheap ones in the back yard but they are so small they just kind of tinkle in the wind.. Also don't mind the large ones with a lower tone but the ones that just clang nonstop in a wind get on my nerves.. I wouldn't have them but neighbors do (not sure where, can't see them) and they are far enough away I can't hear them in the house.

Thank you, Guys!

That is what I was trying to describe! I remember them being used on the table during dessert at a holiday gathering. I sort of got into trouble by suggesting that the whole thing would spin out of balance if I rearranged three of the strikers. Oh well.

Thank-you all for the replies, glad to hear from everyone. I read each one carefully and had a laugh or two, there was much food for thought.

I have two sets and one I hung in a sheltered area in a courtyard in front of the house kind of low to the ground so it would take a lot of wind to ring. These are the cheap "Dollary Store" ones. Will give away the other set to a friend.

Really don't want to crash any nerves around me, and have neighbors 'bite a bullet.' Feelings are extreme either way. Am erring on the side of caution!!

Thanks,
Barry

PS: Think I might get a bird feeder. Anyone have those?

I don't have a bird feeder now, but we always had one as long as my mom was alive. She enjoyed watching various birds, as there is a woods and creek behind the house. She kept binoculars and bird book on windowsill; I'd forgotten about that until one of her friends mentioned it a week or so ago.

If you get the right type of feed, you can attract different types of birds.

By the way, my nephew Clayton lives in New Braunfels. He works at a gravel pit nearby.

We don't currently have wind chimes, although I don't have any hate for them.
My mom always had them when I was a kid.
I remember wooden ones, shaped like an owl, and they had maybe bamboo tubes hanging below that made the sound. Definitely not obnoxious.

They also always fed the birds. Usually, just by throwing stale bread or something out in the driveway.
They did have a feeder...briefly. My dad got too angry when squirrels would take it over.
Fast forward to our becoming home-owners.
A bird feeder came with the house.
One day, I decided it would be nice to set it up, where I could sit in the breezeway and watch the happy little birds.
Guess what. Squirrels! The feeder came back down and hasn't gone up since.
I do buy seed with no shells, and scatter some in my driveway every morning.
The birds enjoy it. And, with it being spread out on the ground, the squirrels eat too, but it doesn't stop the birds from eating at the same time.

I think the dog's fussing because they hurt it's ears!

Personally, I love wind chimes, especially the ones that are like 4 ft long and cost $$$.  They sound so nice.  I think I might start collecting train horns.  My neighbor could make a feather pillow into a noisy object and she's always banging on something right outside my bedroom window when I'm sleeping.  I could set up a train horn collection right outside my window and when she starts banging I start blowing from a controller in the house.  Maybe she would get the hint...nah, she's brain fried if you know what I mean.  I'm so sick of neighbors...wish we lived out in the middle of nowhere.
