Windows 10 and HDMI hijacking audio

Hey all,

I recently bought a new computer and am using it with my karaoke software. I have an HDMI output that I convert to VGA with a box. When I first got my Toshiba about 4 years ago, a setting had to be changed so that when I plugged the HDMI adapter in, the HDMI port didn't steal the audio as well (I need the audio to still come out of the mic/headphone jack). Any ideas? I went to the sound control and (I think) made the speakers the default instead of the HDMI, but still just a hum through the 3.5mm port.

Should be the same for desktop or laptop.

THanks, but though the solution in the link has a Win 10 tag it doesn't appear to be for Win 10.
