Wizard washer

When I was very young,the Western Auto store in my little hometown used to roll the appliances outside in nice weather.The Wizard washers drew me like a magnet.I thought they were beautiful,but I never knew anyone who had one.They remained in the back of my mind all these years.Recently Mr Gansky put a couple clips of one in operation on a post,and now I am more curious than ever.A solid tub machine with an indexing tub?That agitator,so small in relation to the tub,creating all that action?That overflow just blasting the suds away?Someone take pity on me and tell me all about these machines.

I Remember also!

In my hometown of Lenoir NC the Western Auto store downtown, now it is a ACE hardware, it was ran by a man named Otto Koberling. I remember well the Wizard appliances,..I see you are from Johnson City, I have a cousin who lives there, and I was in Elizabethton last week, I ate at Ridgewood Barbecue, I bet you know where that is!

Sadly, by the time I noticed them...they were Norge built with perforated tubs....although the clunks were fun and the agitation were very good.

Before Wings

I remember Wizard that looked like Philco, Hotpoint, Simpson and whatever in the world the flapping beast was in the end.  There is no such thing as a washer so bad I wouldn't have it but some are more desirable.  I'd love to see some of the older Wizards before Angel Wings.
