To update the situation on my WO-65-2 Frigidaire washer, I decided not to rush into opening the console.
Before going ahead with jumping the reset switch, I thought I would more aggressively retry pushing and pulling the switch with a needle nose pliers. Figuring there might be a bit of corrosion in the button, and this might be the first time in fifty years the switch might have popped, I fully, yet gently pulled out and in a few times on the button. Sure enough after plugging it back in the machine came back to life.
It’s making the same intermittent chattering noise though it’s louder than before. You can hear it more when the machine is pulsating, and I’m reasonably sure it’s coming from the motor, thought it does it in spin as well. The agitation and spin start just fine, no hesitation or hum. It’s just noisy when it gets going.
If it is the motor start (spoon) switch again, what do I need to do to it? When I replaced it in the motor with a new part, my only doubt when I was working on it was the exact placement of the switch at the bottom of the motor. I was not sure about extra wire hanging from it and not really sure how it’s supposed to sit or attach to the motor. Though it’s worked well enough until now.
If anyone is willing to diagnose by phone, perhaps you will recognize what’s going on by the sound of it.
Also, I’ve finally purchased a digital camera, with a mini movie (sound also?) feature. If I can figure out how to operate the camera, we can capture the sound of the machine when it's acting up. Can I attach this to a posting on this site or download it to someone?
Non-sarcastic thoughts, comments and help appreciated.
