Have you not looked in the washer before? I'm not jumping your butt either! It's some sort of chemical reaction. As far as I know it doesn't hurt anything. It's never turned anything pink of mine! When Launderess see's this she'll probably explain it. This is right up her alley!
I've noticed that happen, but only when using the regular version of Liquid Tide. It turned the water an orange-red color. Doesn't seem to have tinted the clothes in any way, though.
Laundry water changing to red or brown after the addition of chlorine bleach usually indicates there is too much iron in the water supply.
If you have used LCB before and this is the first time you've had this sort of reaction something may have changed with your water supply. Are you on well water? If so you may need to have it tested? If on tap/city water has there been a water main break or some other disruption in the local water supply? IIRC there are kits one can use to test for iron in tap water, or just contact your local water board and ask if anything is different.
The only other obvious solution would be dye escaping from an item(s) of laundry.
I think what they mean is, when you add the Tide and then pour bleach in it will turn red. Not just to the water. It's something between the two. Like some kind of chemical reaction between Tide and bleach. It always happens to me.
I used to notice it when my LK would time release the bleach when I was using Tide or Cheer. But I've pretty much started using STPP and OxyClean rather than LCB, with eral hot washes I get even better results than with bleach.
I've noticed the same water color change - usually a clear pink-red - when I add chlorine bleach to my Eco-Egg. The brand of detergent doesn't seem to matter. Interesting about the iron level in the water. Likewise, the color doesn't last long, and the clothes are not affected.
Amway what could you expect? That's a pyramid scheme soap!
Unless you're one of those Closet Amway salesmen?? Are you going to lock us all in a room at the convention2005 and pitch for hours and hours?????????
Doityrselfguy, I'd like to know more about your EcoEgg (Avanti, right?); maybe we start another topic on micro-washers? I can see an application for those type of machines next to the regular-size ones. More later...
I agree that Amway is a pyramid scheme, but their detergent, especially the phospated versions, are the best I have ever used. And, yes, the bleach does react with it and turns the water red for a short while.....
