was washing my datebook and notepad. Datebook from August 2008-June 2009. Totally destroyed. It's all over my dark cottons. Church events and commitments, doctor appointments, telephone numbers and addresses.....everything.

Notepad, a "Pocket Briefcase" from Levenger.com. It will survive, but the contents (note cards, business cards, and fortune cookie fortunes) were moderately to severely damaged.
(And I am nearly out of my Levenger note cards.)

I have not YET washed my cell phone, but I know it COULD happen.

(Im)moral of the story? Avoid doing laundry (even necessary laundry) when upset and or tired!

Lawrence, I'm sorry that happened to you. Ever since I got my FridgeMore, I religiously check all pockets in pants or shirts before they go in the washer. It has become 2nd nature to me now.

Sorry to hear....

...and I'm sure it will be a cow to sort out the mess and get some order back

...BUT....

The moral of the story is to 'check pockets'.....so you don't wash your mobile ;)

OOPSIE!

Sorry to hear. Hope your "todays" and "tomorrows" are better going forward.

I once had the best cross-referenced electronic telephone directory on my work's Outlook program. Wiped it all out with the stroke of one (mystery) key. Went back to a paper-and-pen Rolodex.

UGH! It hurts.

Dang! I hate it when that happens. Best thing to do? I think I would get a new one and try to re-create it as fast as I can. Just start adding things in as it comes to your mind. Call and confirm any appointments you think you may have. It won't be everything that was in the washed one but at least something to help. Good luck!

Chior practise?

like never. I am a terrible singer!

I am a committee guy. Outreach-Benevolence, and Deacons. I help give away money and time, and I help set up and give Communion.

In my church, fortunately, that's just one Sunday a month. Usually the first Sunday.

However for the upcoming last two Sundays, I am helping with Coffee Hour after the second service.

Hi Lawrence.
Sorry to hear that.
That must be so frustrating.
I now double check all pockets - I have "washed " a packet of cigarettes ,lighters and money in my time .
Worst incident was when I finished doing the roof .I had black roof sealer on my jeans and they went in the wash.
Never again !

Kindest regards to you.
Louis.

just like that sinking feeling when you close the car door a

we have all been there, at least once, I washed my partners wallet that he left in his pocket, and when in a rush I never think about checking pockets, SO now I have a BALL/Mason jar on top of the machine with loose coins and such as a reminder to check pockets, money that jingles is nice but the type that folds is nicer...

it'll take some work but you'll get there, times you have to kick yourself, we all been there...

better days are comming, take a deep breath and start over....

Sorry...

...I know how you feel. I have accidentally washed wallets, lists, and the latest was my partner's cell phone.

He was wearing some of the painter style jeans and put it in one of the lower pockets. I religiously checked all the normal spots and tossed them in the washer.

When the end of cycle signal went off, I heard this strange buzzing coming from the washer. Opened the lid to find a cell phone vibrating away inside the tub. The display was on but the graphics looked all melted.

Of course, the phone was almost new, expensive, and had his life in it. I was sick. :(

I think the worst I have done is the occasional kleenex (Puffs), credit card receipt and if I'm not careful my daughter's rocks that she leave in her pockets.

My mother washed my billfold once, what a disaster. That was back in the day before we had plastic, they didn't invent that until later in the 20th century. So everything including my at that time learner's permit were clean and unreadable.

A couple of months ago I washed my wallet in the washer. I kept wondering what all that multi colored goop was that was floating on top of the water. Since my wallet was leather, it stunk like hell. I had to rinse and rinse and rinse and run a small food screen through the water to get most of it out. And then there was a ton of paper pieces on the lint filter.

If there ever was a time for a Filter Flo, this was it!

Sorry to hear about this. It's like having a hard drive crash right before you do a major back-up.

I have washed my cell phone twice. Also dropped it in the toilet when it was 3 months old (clean water, thank God, lol). I have also washed and dried my bluetooth once. Nearly 5 years later, the old cell phone still works fine. It has been one hell of a trooper and does more than everything I need it to, so I have a hard time upgrading for no good reason. The bluetooth still works fine too. The trick is to remove the battery and let them completely dry out before powering up again.

Not quite the same tragedy,

My great-aunt Alice had a hard and fast rule: anything left in pants or shirt pockets became her property, regardless what it was. When her 2nd oldest son had just started working, he cashed his paycheck like usual on Friday and just stuck the money in his pants pocket. When he got home he changed clothes, and drove to town, completely forgetting about the money left in his pocket. Well, about halfway to town he remembered it and headed back home at breakneck speed. Aunt Alice had just started doing laundry and hadn't gotten to those pants yet. Needless to say, she was a very disappointed woman.
