Would an old Maytag A-series washer really do this?

I wonder why the fantasy TV show Ghosts had to use a Maytag washer from this late-'60's/late-'70's era (with a matching dryer) as a prop for this bit in this episode...

The console light is burnt out, a final scene at the end of the episode shows that washer discarded with one of the push buttons missing, aaaannnndddd---...

--the darn thing is wobbling, and vibrating, when if it had the typical off-balance switch, it would not keep washing like it's doing or at least shut off during a spin...

If only one of you guys could get over to the set and SET things with it right...!

That can be easily accomplished (any top loader) on a dead smooth spin with one leg adjusted up higher than the other 3.

Betty Draper's older Maytag did that too.

Speaking of Betty Draper...

I just finished binge-watching the entire Mad Men series, due in part to the bone-chilling brutal winter here in Florida (haha). With regards to her stellar orgasmic performance with the yellow Maytag, I caught a glimpse of the shelf above, housing her laundry additives. I noticed Rinso Blue, Dash I believe, and a box of Tide. It was the iteration "Tide XK". I didn't think that was correct for the early 60's. Is that right? Also, in the beginning, the Draper house had a yellow/harvesty color kitchen, with a D&M dishwasher, appropriate for the 60's. Later on in subsequent seasons, the kitchen was replaced with a pink ensemble, including a late 50's KitchenAid, with the big handle, and the slide switch on the right. Anyone else notice that? Did they move, I may have fallen asleep.

Tide XK

According to Proctor and Gamble, the XK version was introduced in 1968. You are right that it is not period correct for a show set in the early 60's.

As you likely know, the shade of yellow for appliances through the mid 60's was like GE Canary Yellow. However, Hotpoint Sunburst Yellow in the mid 50's had a slightly more gold tint, as did Harvest Yellow, one of Kelvinator's exclusive colors of the 50's.

I don't watch the show, so don't know if they moved or remodeled.
